It is a psychosexual disorder and should require psychiatric treatment. It is NOT a way of life or a kind of person, it's a mental illness. As you say correctly, a child molester is not always a pedophile, and raping teenage girls is an innacurate situation, since the pedophiles' focus of interest are children.

In the matter of consensual sex with minors, I think the posibility of a sexual act with a minor is impossible, since a minor (8-12) does not have the critical judgement to understand the real implications of the supposedly consensual situation.
