Excellent post Habbakuk. My stance on abortion is pretty much the same, not based on any personal experience but just my beliefs.

A combination of birth control methods can give you 100% safety.
Ex. Basal Body Temperature, Cervical mucus method and calendar method. Combine these 3 techniques and your set for the night. (Y) :cheeky:

You could use a combination of every birth control method in the world, I don't think we can say anything is really 100% effective yet (and I mean, you could use a combo of something that makes it 99.repeating 9% effective, but there's always a chance).

just get castrated or something...definitely 100%

anyway, I don't think I've posted here yet. I don't really agree with abortion. I was just thinking that what if it was me who was aborted. meh, don't have much to say about the situation because I didn't really read the whole thread (it was already a page long full long-ass posts that hurt my head when I read it)

Ouchies. The only thing worse would be getting papercuts all over your "manhood" and being forced to watch porn.

I think giving birth should be a priveledge, in other words very limited. The government should come in and have a drastic measure of birth control. Only that way can all these issues be avoided. In fact a lot of the world's problems could be avoided if we had such a policy. I don't know what that would entail. Maybe some day we'll have a way of changing hormones so that sperm is only produced after you are a capable parent? Having to earn your testicles back? No clue. However, we need to control the population and be sure that only capable parents are allowed to have children.

So I am pro-choice. Whatever, let the woman decide. Like I care.
Bored.

I don't know if you're trying to pull off some kind of joke, or if your place of living is a joke. But what the fuck?

"people started being super liberated most especially the girls"

So by girls acting the same way as men have for centuries, it's their fault and it's all some kind of "super liberated"-scheme?

That's a pretty strong Catholic biased site, and I personally don't buy into graphic videos to change my decisions. PETA does the same thing, but I'll still bite into a piece of steak without remorse. That video doesn't change my view at all.

You don't know what you're missing. Medium-rare with A1 steak sauce, I could pleasure myself just thinking about it...

It's a whole being indian thing, they think cows are holy.

Oh wells, I've eaten beef, my mom doesn't know that but my sisters do & so does my dad. I think my grandmom would burst out in tears if she knew though.

Anyways, I've had different kinds of beef just not a steak yet. Sometime this week perhaps, my brother in law is going to prepare one for me. Away from my mom.

It reallt depends on the situation... It's hard to create a moral fence around abortion, since a lot of parameters have to be weighed.

The thing is, each person directly involved in a keep the baby/don't keep the baby dilemma, deep inside him has the true knowledge of what decision he should make. The one decision that he would regret the least in the future. In other wors, do what you genuinely believe is right when th eproblem occurs, and do not succumb to social or 'general morals' pressure.

I had a similar case when I was 16, and the girl I was with then and me decided mutually that no one would benefit from a pregnancy and inevitabl emarriage at that age. Not even the child. So we decided to terminate the pregnancy. She was 18 at the time, and so far neither of us has deeply regretted that choice. I sometimes get the inevitable 'what could have been' thoughts. But mostly out of curiosity.

To answer the original question, there are things in this life that can be adequately defined based on popular morals, if only for the sake of smooth flow of things from a greater scope. Some injustices will still occur. Then again, there are issues such as abortion, death penalty and other philosophically debatable issues that cannot be 'fenced'. Ther ewill always be two sides, both with good arguments to support their views.

So it really comes down to personal choice. What the state should do, is try and make it as educated a choice as possible. In other words, it all comes down to proper EDUCATION, mostly focused on self-reliance and responsibility. Responsible people have a far lesser chance of involuntarily entering a make or break situation such as the above.

Philosophical consensus: When in great doubt/dilemma, always pick the (personal) long way home. It's the least likely choice to regret in the future.
