I had an argument with my friend over which shoe brand is most popular (meaning makes the most profit) in past 4-5 years. What do you guys think? i think 1)Nike 2)adidas 3)reebok
my friend thinks 1)Nike 2)reebok 3)adidas
I also wanna know the percentages.
And i got one more question for those shoes experts. Is Jordan a separate brand? Or is it under Nike? If it is totally a separate brand when did MJ came out of Nike and started to make his own brand? I just wanna know a brief background history. I'll be really appreciated.

Nike.. duh.
Jordan brand is under the nike ownership.
Mon Jun 13, 2005 12:16 pm
Jordans alone would still probally be number one
Mon Jun 13, 2005 12:17 pm
...and it always has been.
Jowe you were supposed to list your top 3
I think
1. Nike
2. Adidas
3. Reebok

I didn't know Jordan was under Nike. Hmm... then my friend was right on that part. I did some research and found out that reebok is #2 worldwide and adidas is #2 in the U.S. I told my friend that Jordan was a separate brand itself

. I don't get it. How does the brand work then? I thought MJ was the owner himself. Does MJ own majority of stock for Jordan? I mean can somebody describe how all works, so I can explain to my friend?

" Until late in 1997, Air Jordan Shoes were a part of the Nike, Inc. family. Nike unveiled a new marketing plan in 1997 and Jordan became it's own sub-brand of Nike with the release of The Air Jordan XIII, Air Jordan Team, and Air Jordan Trainers. From this point on, Jordan Brand products do not feature the Nike name or Nike Swoosh, and their only connection to Nike is a fine print address for Nike headquarters to be used for insurance purposes."
"only connection to Nike is a fine print address for Nike headquarters to be used for insurance purposes"
? So this means Nike doesn't get any profit off of Jordan? Jordan has their own CEO and owner? I'll do some more researches

It's not the best example in the world, but it's kind of like how iPod or Quicktime is a brand name, but is owned by Apple. Another example is (Canadians know this one) the grocery store chain Save-On-Foods is actually owned by Overwaitea Food Group.

Yea, that quote is correct. Shortly after the 13's came out the split was made, and after than another colourway of the XIII's came out (I'm guessing it was the Flints).
But I do belive that it is still Nike that is coming out with the Team Jordan (Jumpman) shoes. I'm not quite sure about that though...

So Jumpman are not Jordan brands?

1.) Nike
2.) Reebok
3. ) And 1

My friend just told me about how Sports Illustrated had an issue about how And 1 has made a big impact on basketball and basketball merchandise. Some of you might know that it started in Pennsylvania (it's actually near the town that I live in), but it was actually started by a bunch of pale white guys.
On topic though, I think it's
1. Nike
2. Reebok (because of Iverson's)
3. Adidas

adidas is way popular

If we consider soccer, then I think Adidas is way up there.

I read an article somewhere on imagesfashion... while searching for this kinda thing that said Reebok had lost it's #2 spot to Adidas.
