LECAVALIER SHOOTS AND SCORES WITH NHL 06

Tampa Bay Lightning All-Star Center Signed to Cover
5.5.05 – EA SPORTS announced today that Tampa Bay Lightning All-Star center Vincent Lecavalier inked a deal to be the cover athlete and spokesman for its upcoming NHL® 06 video game. The highly skilled assistant captain of the Lightning is the perfect choice for the 14th season of EA’s NHL franchise, as shooting and scoring will be the main focus this year.
With NHL 06 players can score like a superstar, express their shooting style with the new EA SPORTS Skill Stick, and light the lamp with highlight reel moves such as spin-o-ramas, toe drags, bat-ins, and between-the-legs shots. Classic deke control adds to the arsenal of moves allowing maneuvers around defensemen before snapping off dangerous shots that can ripple the twine and knock the water bottle off the net.
“I am very excited about being a member of the EA SPORTS team,” Lecavalier said. “I grew up playing EA SPORTS games and to be a part of NHL 06 now is a great honor.”
The 25-year-old center has already become one of the most decorated young stars in the NHL. Following the 2003-04 NHL season, Lecavalier led the Lightning to the Stanley Cup Finals, where they prevailed in seven games. Just three months later he was named the Most Valuable Player as Team Canada won the 2004 World Cup of Hockey. He was the first overall selection in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
NHL 06 is currently in development by EA Canada and will be available on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Xbox*reg; video game system from Microsoft, the Nintendo GameCube and PC this fall.
