Computer Help Again...

Sat Apr 30, 2005 2:07 pm

Well for the past few months my computer is lagging a lot. It lags even when i play Live 03, on low settings. So something is really wrong. Also when i am playing any game, automatically for some reason, it crashes on the desktop and i have to click the game at the toolbar to restore the game.

I also am getting a lot of spyware. I have Mircrosoft AntiSpyware and its pretty good but the problem is that the same spyware keeps coming everyday. (ISTtoolbar, 180Search Assistant, Bulls Eye Network etc..) Also i have another program called XoftSpy. The other problem is that i am getting lots and lots of pop ups. So is there any good pop up blocker that i can use??

Well my computer is really dying now, and i dont want to format.

the same thing happened to me with the alt-tabbing out of games, then having to click it on the tool-bar to play it again, i just ran This program and it seemed to fix it.

We should be holding some sort of NLSC Appeal like they have for starving Africans.

"For a dollar a day, you can stop COOLmac from posting".

I guess you could do the regular things. Run Ad-Aware, one more virus program (I use Norton), maybe use a regcleaner to get rid of all old entrys. But what you really should do is defragment your harddrive(s) if you haven't done that lately.

I like that idea Jae (y) Although I don't think a dollar a day will be sufficient...

LOL I'm gonna have to pull a Coolmac...

In my experience, formatting will make a computer run like it was brand new.

I would suggest getting a firewall or something to see where all the spyware is coming from, and block it from accessing the internet. Do you have kazaa or something?

But yeah, run Ad-Aware and Spybot. And definitely try out a firewall. Also go to start->run->msconfig and click the startup tab. Try disabling programs that look suspicious (keeps them from starting up when you turn on the computer.

I have Ares Lite Editon but i dont think thats a problem. I have never defraged my hd since last year, so i think i should do that.

Tell me you aren't reverting back to your old ways. :|

After all the suggestions, if none of them work, try Spy Doctor. It's available on download.com.

Download Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy (google), make sure you update them before you run them. In Spybot you can also Immunize, meaning it blocks spyware from coming back. Also check your Add/Remove Programs list, if you see anything you don't recognize, get rid of it. I think I've had 180search assistant, and it's problably installed on your computer like mine was. There are more extreme programs I know about too, if you comes down to it I'll help you with those.

It's unbelievable how much spyware is out there nowadays, but not as many people know how to prevent/get rid of it. I wish it was more widely known of, because it can really screw up your computer. I fix my sisters'/parents' computers every day because of all the spyware.

I had some MediaAccK spyware for sometime, ad-aware didn't catch it. Spyware is really getting out of control now.
I finally got rid of it after I got fid up if it giving some stupid error everytime i shut down.
Decided to google it and found out it was a spyware.

between, does anyone know any site that has the most common spywares that are programs that many aren't aware of?
