Patcher of the Month

Postby Full Surface on Wed Feb 19, 2003 11:05 am

Okay, here's my idea. This would definitely make patch makers feel more appreciated :) There could be a new section on the site that is labeled "Hall of Fame". In there it would include a list of the best patch maker each month. See the example below.

February 2003 - Jowe
March 2003 - Tony
April 2003 - MICRO

etc.. etc..

The voting system would work pretty simple. A new poll a week before the end of the month will be made by Andrew (poll will be sticked in the Announcements forum - Live 2003), so the poll will be up for 7 days. There will be 10 candidates in each poll and everyone can vote for their favorite that month, depending on the work that they have released. The poll will close at the end of the month and the winner will get their name on the NLSC website and it will be up there hopefully forever. Hope you take my idea into consideration.

Hmm...I don't like the idea...it can be too degrading to patchers who work hard and aren't voted...

But your intentions are good. :)

I agree with you Nick. It really makes me feel nice when someone reply to say thanks for the patch, that's mostly the thing I appreciate from those who use it. But with that idea, the one who is not chosen could feel bad and might lose interest of keep trying, something we don't want.

A good idea in theory, but in practice, not a good idea to give out "awards". After all, it's a community of NBA Live players who share information, stories and patches, not a popularity contest. Nick and Scub have already summed most of it up.

I'd like to add that there have been patcher rankings/lists before, some people have set up sites in the past that rated patchers and whatnot. They caused more problems than made patchers feel appreciated, so it's not an idea I'm willing to implement.

But thanks for the suggestion - it's always good to know people care enough about the site to make suggestions. :)
