wow great that's why you kick NEO's ass.
anyways bulging up so much muscles aint sexy anymore. being in shape by itself is sexy.....an hour in gym or in routine exercise will surely boost your life expetency and with the help of multivitamins like CENTRUM......life in the 80's isn't a far cry..

i'm 6'2" and 185lb...got 10 pounds to work with till i'm in the 'overweight' catergory i think..
the problem is the way of life in America. It's just so tempting to get fastfood all the time, especially for college students. You with your friends and such, you feel tempted to get something like pizza. Pizza vs. some healthy food. I think most would go with pizza, but deep down u know it's not good for you. All that greasy shit going into you adding unnessary shit to your body and you gunna take a coke to go with it.. not even some healthy water to clean your body.
The working out.. well, you might feel too lazy after eating such a meal to bother..
You know I was bored 1 day and i went and took a walk up on Broadway in New York, and I walked about 60blocks or so.( i know its odd but it wasn't too bad) In that span, I noticed that about every 8blocks there was a McDonald's Restarunt. You gotta blame the business owners too, but what can you say? They just doing what it takes to make money. I dare them to start putting a nutrition facts on there packaging labels, but they problably won't.
IF you check their
website for these facts you will see some pretty high numbers..

It's only a matter of habit,friend.
I guarantee you, that if you keep it for a week, exercising 1 hour daily and avoiding fatty foods, then the right choices will come on their own...
At th emoment you start reaping the fruits of your efforts, you're on track to become someone better. Believe me, it's worth the effort.

And don't forget the diet! Food plays a major role. If you do just lift weights and don't care about food, you might not even see results!

No prob. just maintain a schedule for about a month or so, and then you would actually LIKE going to the gym, after you've seen th efirst results. Although by looking at your pics in th eother thread, I wouldn't guess you had a weight problem. Maybe it's just my eyes...
And don't forget the diet! Food plays a major role. If you do just lift weights and don't care about food, you might not even see results!
Couldn't be more true... When trying to shape up, you should know that it comes around to 70% diet and 30% exercise as far as importance is concerned. The site I mentioned has nutrition tips too...
If you want to know anything else about working out, just PM me. I'll be glad to be of help provided I know the answers...
Cheers, and good luck in your future efforts

Whoa, that's the most ignorant response I've heard in a while. First off, dieting and "diet" are completely different meanings. Diet means following a selection of foods that are fit to help you reach your goals (whether it be losing 5 lbs and reaching 9% body fat, or gaining 15 lbs of muscle while maintaining 12% body fat). Dieting basically means losing weight through uncessary starvation or unhealthy methods, like the Atkins diet and that new South Beach Diet. You have no idea how many athletes and bodybuilders (especially!) follow a strict diet to reach their goals.

I am pretty skinny, I always eat a lot of shit like candy and McDonalds and also good, regular food.
But I never seem to gain any weight!
What should I do???
Mon Mar 21, 2005 5:06 am
Jona you sound like me lol. If you are really that desperate to gain weight, I've heard of people eating like a meal every 2 hours or so. But you'd have to make sure that you still exercise so you aren't just adding a bunch of unneccessary fat. Or you could try lifting weights to add muscle which will gain you weight.

there are two types of bodily weight that can be gained or lost. Fat and muscle. The fact that you do not get extra fatty tissue due the things you eat is a blessing, many people would love to be in your place. It's just your metabolism that burns away everything fast.
You should try eating 4 - 7 meals a day, mostly rich in protein ( chicken breast, turkey breast, egg whites etc) and carbohydrates (bread, spaghetti, rice etc). This COMBINED with a workout schedule will get you results, maybe not fast, but they will come.
The only problem peoplw with your metabolism rate seem to have, is that they cannot get too bulky and muscular as easy as the rest. But as long as you do not want to pump up too much or become a bodybuilder, I don't think that will be an issue for you.
Hope I was of help there, friend. Just PM me if you want any other info or visit the site I mentioned above. Cheers!

jona you sound like me until i was about 16.
my sophomore basketball coach told me i had to put on some bulk if i wanted to start on varsity junior year. so i hit the weight room twice a day for heavy lifting for 5 months. non stop
i gained 28 pounds of pure muscle. it really really works if you just put your mind to it and are willing to really work.
and i know you might say your naturally skinny or something, but thats what i used to think to. because i was SUPER skinny.
Mon Mar 21, 2005 6:35 am
two times a day everyday for 5 months? That's dedication, but that's difficult for 99% of the people to do, and it's also a risk of overtraining. I put in 3-4 times a week for no more than an hour, and that should be good enough for most beginners and intermediate lifters.
Mon Mar 21, 2005 9:31 am
well, it started out pretty light. jogging in the morning, with a little light lifting, and then after school benching for about 15-20 minutes followed by squats for about the same, then a little more jogging. i just built my way up.
Mon Mar 21, 2005 10:25 am
when you eat fatty shit and still dont get that much fat..then you are bless with the skinny man's metabolism......that's good and all..but sooner or later this metabolic state changes when we age..just like what miller here said.....after the teen years the metabolic rate slowly reduced ad fat will start to be more consisitent in your body than before youre young.........hope this info from my gym instructor helps
Mon Mar 21, 2005 10:37 am
if you want to put on weight don't go over board with the McDonald's and such. You might gain the weight yeah, but your Cholestral level might reach too high

That's true, and that's something our friend, Matt, does not understand yet.
If we can eat any kinds of foods without being educated about their effects, we wouldn't be able to know the difference between
good fats (polyunsaturated and monosaturated fats) and bad fats (saturated and trans fat). We do need fat in our body to be healthy, and even the good fats I mentioned above actually can help with burning fat (quite a contradiction, lol).
Mon Mar 21, 2005 11:39 am
yeah i heard of it.......the so called anti-fats are some fats themselves.....quite condradictory but hey thats natures wonders.......
