What are the pros and cons of this game?

Just to add to my mini-review in the top post, the only downside is that the gameplay is kind of old school - it's not a bad thing for me as a fan of the original because I wanted the remake to be true to the original, but some people might not care for it. It's quite an accurate remake of the old game, but it is greatly updated. Most of the cons for me are based on a few omissions from the original game.

You got to have all the pieces of the treasure map to be able to read it...

Once you have that it is very easy, just use your spyglass a lot when your on land.

The easier difficulty levels usually reward you with better pieces of the map earlier on. It's sometimes possible to find treasure/lost relatives with only a couple of map pieces but usually not on Rogue/Swashbuckler.

By the way, I equally my score of 114 on the original; I can post a screenshot if anyone cares enough to challenge the claim. :P

Liar.

Disclaimer: I have never played nor seen this game. In fact, the only time I ever heard of it was in this thread thus for all I know that score could be piss easy to get. I would just like to see a screenshot, as I like them. That is all.

i've seen some screenies from sites and it looks different from my game..firstly..it seems that they have all those buttons on the bottom right corner..while i have a 'number pad' with words on it at the bottom right.secondly..inside the pictures u can roam around the cities, while the only time i can walk on land is to park the ship to the land, and they will ask me 'yes,we'll anchor here or no we set sail' or smth like that.even when i m on the land..my character look small as hell.in some other screens, there are different costumes when they dance, even fights.but for me,its only the uniforms of my rank that can be wore.oh yea.there are some questions too..why cant i use parry, jump and duck during a fight?i can only use thrust, slash, taunt and chop.the others have some red X on it.. :(

It's the same in my game, it's possible you're looking at some early screenshots. There aren't any alternate costumes during dances or sword fights (exclusing the fencing shirt/metal cuiruss, which are items you can obtain from various places).

As for the red X...that's just to indicate it's a defensive move. I was thrown at first too, but you can indeed perform the parry, jump and duck moves.

Resurrecting this thread as I've been playing Pirates! recently and just completed the my best game - finally, 126/126 Fame Points, having completed all of the side quests. I still have this game saved and can actually keep playing until I divide the plunder, but I can't really do much except get more gold; and I've already got enough to qualify for 24/24 Wealth points.

Results & Scores

Anyone looking for a good strategy/action/role playing game - or for that matter, simply a good game to play - I'd still suggest getting this one.
