I didn't know whether to post this here or in Other Sports but I figured I'd get more views here. Mods, feel free to move it.
Yeah anyway, Sania Mirza.. some of you must've heard about her already. She's a rising tennis star from India. She's only 18 and she's number 97 in the world right now, I think. She's like a sporting icon in teh country already. Especially after all that buzz she made in the Australian Open when she got to the semis. She lost to Serena Williams there but then, no one was really expecting her to beat the world number 1. I didn't really pay any attention to any of this hype until last night a friend of mine called me up and told me that there was a match of her's on TV an hour later. So, there I was, watching her on TV for the first time and what do you know... the poor thing got her cute little ass beat by some chic from Serbia. Jelena something.. I don't remember. I was really hoping she'd win and go on to the semis again
And she had SO much support too.. there were like 5000+ peple rooting for her there. It sucks that she gave up so easy.
Yeah so I just thought I'd post this here because I didn't really have much else to do. I've been studying really hard for my final high school exams... we call it the boards over here. I got three more left.. wish me luck guys. I'll check back later

Yeah this is a Other Sports thing... the Serbian chick would be Jelena Dokic I'd assume, she was representing Australia originally but swapped nationalities because her dad is nuts. The prob with womens tennis is that they all start out so young now, like this 18 year old girl is actually quite old as far as tennis phenoms go... Venus Williams was 16 or something stupid when she won a grand slam, same goes for Sharapova.

Jelena Jankovic.. that's who I was talking about. She just beat Serena Williams in the semis

Sania Mirza has a hideous fashion sense off the court....she just look awful with those thick glasses n her "not suiting" dresses.
Anyway as usual.....shes become a superstar in India....worse part is I gotta see all the shit abt her aswell cause I have to see the Indian ESPN and Star Sports
wasnt Martina Hingis like 16 or 17 aswell when she won a grand slam....womens tennis has become a teenagers game...soon u'll see 13 year olds playing in grand slam finals

the only one thats prolly past 30 n still goin on in women's tennis is Martina Navaratolova(spellcheck)....shes like 48 or smth though.....shes truly a legend and compliment to the sport

You're lucky you got espn star sports. I haven't been able to watch any basketball for a few months now because the cable operator that I've subscribed to got into some kinda pricing issues with espn star and so they took it off air. And it isn't just basketball.. I can't watch any english premier league football either
