Problem with router/adapter

Postby iKe7in on Tue Feb 01, 2005 5:14 pm

I bought a Linksys Wireless B Router and Adapter about 4-5 months ago. The router is attatched to the family computer in our living room, and the adapter is on my computer in my room, the basement. Everything was fine for about a month, but then, every once in awhile, the connection would stay up for only a few minutes at a time. If I went to my connections folder, and clicked on "Repair," every once in awhile the connection would reconnect. 90% of the time, the dialog box saying "Disabling network adapter" appears, and then nothing happens. I'm forced to restart the whole computer, and when it starts back up, the connection is fine again.

Recently it has been a little better, and seems to only disconnect when I start certain programs. Maybe once out of every 10 times, when I start up Firefox or Explorer. The worst is when I try to use a p2p client. I have Limewire, Soulseek, Ares and Exeem, and with every one of them, I start it up, but then a few minutes in, the connection is lost and can't be repaired, with the same step("Disabling network adapter") at which it freezes.

If anyone can suggest something that I could do to fix this problem, whether it be a setting somewhere or a program to download, I would really appreciate it.
