It depends on the culture and society. There's nudist beaches, there's third world countries who don't have clothes. Just because sex suddenly appears everywhere doesn't mean it never happened before. Research on history will show that sex have always been just as "bad" as it is now (or even worse before!)

As long as i can remember "Playboy" wasnt in ppl dictionary, it was rare to see such stuff back in the day. You wouldnt even see girls with short jeans. They even had a fine if they see a girl weaing short jeans (back in the 50's Canada). Time has sure has changed I still remember that in song videos girls werent always shaking thier asses. Take Pakistani songs as an example, they show girls dancing and everything before this stuff was thought as improper, and u knw Pakistani ppl are muslims.

So time has sure changed from back in the day, we all should just hide in our bomb shelters and pray for all the best.

wisdom_kid, If the sun would rise from the west on the 30th, where would you start counting from? In Australia the sun rises 10 hours before it does here... And when you think about it like that the sun would never really rise would it now, it would just stay at the same place and when the earth start to move the other way, then the sun wouldn’t rise at all...
And if the earth would stop for a little while (just to turn the other way) the one half would burn and become inhabitable, and the other half would freeze and become inhabitable. So everyone would pretty much die in a matter of minutes; so we wouldn't really experience that the earth would move the other way, especially not after two/three months. So if we for some strange reason would survive the extreme weather change (which is a chance in 100,000,000,000 billion) we would all be killed by force majore' (natural disasters) within a few hours anyway so nothing (except for various microbes)...

I'm not trying to disrespect your religion, that's the last thing I'm trying since Islam is one of the religions I respect most of the ones I know about. Just trying to have a nice discussion (first on here in a long time )

You must be real good in Science Class I did not give out the whole quote but i just gave it from the middle which had the sun rising. On July 30th of 2004, Mars changed its rotaion, so the sun rose from the west.

BTW I asked my mom about the disaster stuff so she said stuff like that is not the end of the world. So just forget about the "Disasters" stuff

Like Andreas Dahl said, I meant many times ago, from recent to thousands of years ago. Before there were short jeans, there were jeans, and before jeans, there were togas, dresses, whatever, it doesn't matter about what they wore, but sex was always common and widespread in any time and age. The influences that make up how we see sex in society is culture and religion. In ancient Greek, it was very common for young men and older men to engage in homosexual activities (see: NAMBLA), and in Sparta, women had to keep fit by doing physical exercises... nude. If that happened here in our society, it would be appalling.

I see that you have to depend on your friends and family to understand more about your religion, but you are exposing yourself to biased opinion and beliefs. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but if you take the incentive to explore and learn more about religion on both left and right wing views, it would really help you see the world differently. I've been through the same thing as you did, and I learned a lot and it really helped me spiritually. Read some books!

Yea i know all about the past where there were ppl like that, but at the same time god punished them by banishing thier roots. For example there was a race (dont know the name in English---probably wat u said) and they were the homosexual people. God soon punished them and thier whole race was wipped off by a storm. I see your point on how the past was bad too. As for the ppl in Africa that still live naked, they are different cause they are not naked for the sake of being NAKED. They are naked cause they dont have the knowledge.

Lots of people were like that, they used to do wierd stuff. Even the muslims back in the day used to drink and stuff, till they got the knowledge that this stuff was wrong.

I think you were referring to Sodom and Gomorrah. As for the people in Africa, they do have the knowledge that they are naked, and it is natural for human emotion to feel ashamed. They don't feel ashamed because that is their way of life, their culture, and their understanding that they do not have clothes that shape their beliefs.

Yes, it's true that Muslims, Jews, and Christians alike follow the same roots. I would say that they all follow the same God, as I don't believe that any religion is superior or "truer" over others. I am a Christian, but a left wing Christian, where the Bible and Jesus' teachings hold truth in them - not necessarily meaning what they say is factual or literal truth. I don't believe that Adam and Eve actually happened or the great flood wiped out all but Noah and a select few, because, really, does it matter whether or not we believe in that? What is more important is recognizing the underlying historical, moral, metaphorical, and metaphysical meaning behind it, and how that can apply to the way we see life and how we should treat others. Hence, Jesus' teachings about love is something that I really value, because I don't think there is anything greater than love. My "religion" says that Jesus will come back to judge the living and the dead, but I don't believe that will happen. What leads me to not believe that is for historical reasons - who wrote it, what are the symbols and meaning behind what is written, when was it written, etc. and Marcus Borg came up with very convincing arguments which would be too long to outline here... but all in all, some people believe the Bible (or Quran) literally, and some believe in it metaphorically.

has anyone read that book about the end of the world about the 111 popes. After the 111th the end of the world will be upon us. PJPII is #109 and he's going to die soon, after him the next Pope will live shortly and then we'll have the final Pope.

These are some weird times that we are living in, I wouldn't like to be born now.....the problems faced by future generations might cripple them because of our selfish actions. (for example we'll pollute the Earth, blow it up, use it's resources.....and in the end it'll be a bunch of old ppl.....no one is having kids anymore)

Well, Christianity is a broad religion that includes Roman Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, etc.. it's that Christianity is based on the life and teachings of Jesus, which can mean many, many different sub-categories of religion. I was raised a Roman Catholic, but I'm in no way a Roman Catholic now since my beliefs are way, way different from the Roman Catholic beliefs; however, I still consider myself a Christian because I believe in the moral teachings of Jesus, even though I don't consider Jesus to be God, but rather, a god.

I can't stand preaching either, and I would be an athiest because of all the hypocrisy and narrow minded view of religion, but I do believe in a God. But my belief in God is completely different from the intervening all-powerful man with a white beard that so many people believe in. Whatever works for you in life is what is important, and I have found that.

My friend he says he is athiest, he is actually muslim but he thinks he is athiest. The only reason he "turned" athiest is because he heard Kanye West say somethin about athies in "Jesus Walks"

I have basically the same beliefs you do, but I think that if you are an atheist, you need to have FAITH in the "non-existence" of deities, and the only elements I have faith in are my reasoning and my loved ones (close family, close friends), so I chose agnosticism. I have a point of view that the existence of God is impossible to prove or KNOW.

As for sensitive about god thing. You know GOD is "GOD" so he is the most respected thing in the universe. Its just not muslim ppl all ppl respect thier gods, weather its Jesus or Moses. As for the extremists, ppl that follow Islam are reffered to extremists. Even the Taliban ppl were not extremist, they just followed the religon and thats not being extremist. (but some of the stuff they did was not part of the religon-ex. stoning ppl to death)
