Planning to buy a new laptop.

Postby Jackal on Thu Jul 22, 2004 4:03 am

Well, as the topic says, I'm planning to buy a laptop, I've been in search for a couple of months already & I've got sufficient cash.

I'm not all that good with computers, I know the basics so I was wondering if you guys would help me out:

So far, this is what I know about the laptop:

Toshiba Satellite A 40 532 Notebook:

Now, can someone just break this down for me? I can understand if you guys don't want to waste the time, but any help as to if it's worth the buy or not is welcomed. Please try and give pros and cons?

Price: ~900 Euro's.

Mmm. If you want to play games your going to struggle with onboard graphics. ATI are leading the market in Laptop GPU's, if you are interested in playing games on it i suggest a 9600 and 9700! Both are very capable

9600

9700

Run a search for "RockDirect Pegasus Ti 2GHz" this is a real high end laptop!

Good Luck with it!

edit: 512mb RAM is a must, dont let anybody sell you a NEW machine with a meager 256ram!

Humm, I just saw another one with 512 MB RAM + 128 MB Radeon 9600, Fujitsu, I have no clue about the price though, perhaps if it's in the 1000 range, I might be able to get it.

Anyways, keep giving feedback on the Toshiba one guys..

The 40 GB Hard Drive goes very fast if you plan on addin games, applications, etc.

I have 3 Toshiba laptop. Toshibas are awesome and have never given me any problems. So I'd suggest to buy a Toshiba/Sony Vaio/Dell.

I have never tryed a Dell but their Desktops were good and Sony Vaio's are very nice too.
