When they say free roaming city do they mean some sort of GTA thing where you drive around to get jobs? If so then cool.

Kinda. Basicaly there are no set routes, imagine a race from A to B and u can get there anyway you please. They have stolen another idea from the same company though, they are rippin off MIDNIGHT CLUB II. NFSU looked fantastic. But the game play was pretty boring and mundane, the learning curve was pathetic. Midnight Club II was overall a much better game, Rockstar concerntrated on gameplay rather than the glossy end, where as EA are always the other way around. There obviously stealing ideas from it.....The Free roaming can work really well, but at times can be very messy, but if Canada get it right, compiled with NFSU visuals it will be wicked.

Young pups Please dont start with NFSU was a brilliant game :D , because it wasnt, it was the usual EA Half ASS attempt a great game. EA seem to do it with every big game they release, the 1st half of the game is always brilliant and then its ruined by an appauling finish. Take LOTR ROTK, this game was amazing and without doubt one of my favourite games and one of the most replayable games i have ever seen, Amazing Visuals, Movie quality voice overs and visuals, outstanding gameplay and and incredible learning curve, UNTIL........................3/4 into the game (just after the valley with the elephants) then after the game turns to shit, the story turns to shit, i mean whats with that shitty end. I know that the game is based on a movie that based on a book that limits the game to certain boundaries, but that means this > JACK. Early in the game they turned the crap Movie/Book storyline into some great levels. MY POINT IS EA CANT FINISH A GAME AND THIS APPLIES TO ALL THERE DIVISIONS. I dont know if its some kind of deadline/time problem.....But they do it with every game they release.

IMO the best game EA have ever rlsed (this does not include any lives) is MOD AA, becuase somebody actualy took the time to finish it properly!

 *sigh* It's as if they are obligated to do much better.

You folks should learn to appreciate. Seriously, if you dont like it, dont play it. No one is forcing you to. You all would rather whine like sissy little girls but it's folks like you that have turned the gaming industry into a monopoly for EA. If you would complain less and buy less we wouldnt have the problem hence you would complain less. Does that go into your thick skulls? No, we'll buy the game, whine about it, wait for it to release next year and repeat the same process again.

Eh, stop buying? No one's forcing?

I, for one, enjoyed the game mucho. To each their own I guess.

UNCOVER THE UNDERGROUND

Discover the living, breathing world of tuner culture in Need for Speed™ Underground 2, the sequel to the best-selling racing game of 2003, and the latest blockbuster installment in the legendary Need for Speed franchise.

Taking place in a massive, free-roaming city featuring five distinct interconnected neighborhoods, Need for Speed Underground 2 delivers an immersive game world where the streets are your menus. As players explore the city, they’ll encounter rival racers who will school them in the ways of the underground and tip them off to the hottest racing spots in town.

Deep new performance tuning allows gamers to fine-tune every aspect of their ride’s handling and performance, while hundreds of new visual customizations guarantee players can create their own personalized, totally unique car.

All-new game modes join Circuit, Drift, and Drag events to add depth and variety, pushing car and driver to the limit, while more than a dozen new cars and hundreds of aftermarket parts from the biggest names in the business make Need for Speed Underground 2 the deepest, most authentic tuner experience ever.

Key Features

Free-Roaming City: Explore a massive city divided into five distinct, interconnected neighborhoods, ranging from serpentine suburban hills to an intense downtown grid. A complex series of drivable freeways connect the neighborhoods together.
Emergent Gameplay: Want to make a name for yourself in the underground? You’ll need to find it first. Races can happen anywhere and at any time and as players encounter rivals on the street they’ll be clued into where they can buy the hottest upgrades or enter the most elite events.
New Gameplay Modes: Three new gameplay modes are added to last year’s circuit, drift and drag competitions, challenging gamers to hone their skills in a number of driving disciplines.
Performance Tuning: Tune every aspect of your car’s performance with hundreds of licensed aftermarket performance upgrades and then fine-tune everything from the gear ratio to the suspension for the ultimate ride.
The Hottest Cars: More than thirty of the most sought-after tuner cars are available from the hottest manufacturers--from Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, and Toyota to Ford and Volkswagen, if they’re hot on the street, they’re in the game.
Visual Customization: With more than twice the visual customizations of last year’s game, there are literally billions of car combinations available to gamers. Featuring audio upgrades, scissor doors, spoilers, headlights, side skirts, roof scoops, hoods, rims, wide body kits, neon and more, if you can trick it out in real life, you can trick it out in Need for Speed Underground 2.
Environmental Variety: Each of the five distinct neighborhoods in Need for Speed Underground 2 feature a unique look and feel, including varied driving conditions and track types. Road surfaces, real-time weather effects, and environmental hazards will keep gamers on their toes as they race from dusk till dawn.
Online: Gamers can put their reputation on the line, challenging the world’s best racers online for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.*.

Homer:

I don't know if that's the point, it could be it's just for style like some of the parts in the first part.

Hotshot:

It'll probably be better, from what I got out of it, it's basically the same game with stuff added onto it. Free-roaming the cities, new stuff like sound systems, doors that open upwards, not sideways...and most probably new cars.

Number14:

I don't think the In-Car view will make a come back that soon, alot of manufactures don't appreciate the interiours being shown in the game. Don't ask me why, there was an article about it some time back.

It's the same with damage, if I'm not mistaken...Need For Speed 3: Hot Pursuit was the last of the NFS to have damage, after that manufacturers asked for this feature to be taken out, they felt it was demoting their cars. (Silly guys...tch)

Oh, I'm talking about visual damage ofcourse.
