Are you trying to load dvd games, or cd games?

no dude.. what format of games are you playing? are they in cd format, or dvd? ps2 plays both... the cd are blue and dvd are grey... if you only got it on halloween, isnt it under warranty?

This happened to my original PS2. Unfortunately the warranty had expired and it was going to cost as much to send it to Sony for them to take a look at and replace the faulty component as it would to buy a brand new PS2, so I just bought a new PS2 (actually a PS2+).

This happened to me like 2 weeks back, I couldn't figure out what was wrong, well...what I did was:

The tray in which you put the CD/DVD's, wipe it with a cloth, for some odd reason, mine accumilated lots of dust, which seems highly impossible given it's hardly ever open, oh well...clean it and the laser should have a less tough time reading the disc, this way it freezes less.

Worked for me, try giving it a shot.

If the warranty is still in effect, go return it for a new one.
