They both are 56k friendly
They help people with 56k because it saves them alot of time.
Just trying to help.

that's a pretty cool feature.... but it would probably lead to spamming..

i don't think so, as it will be only quality posts that will be rewarded ... I like that feature too ... But we shouldn't ask too much to Andrew

I've thought about adding new features like that. One of the default forum features is posting ranks based on post counts, and there's a mod that allows you select your own custom rank title, which can be restricted to a certain number of posts (eg after 200 posts you may select your own custom title). But again, that can very easily lead to spamming as people try to attain higher ranks and the ability to create their own custom title.

I watch the forum that I mod but I have yet to see anything that was in need of modding
The points thing can be really cool because you can add a bank, shop and a lottery to it.

I have a points system on my homesite forum... its no big deal. Just make people spam more... and when you could say we could mod more... but deleting posts doesn't delete points... only Andrew would be able to do that. And that would be more work for him, and us... and yes I do do a lot of modding, not necessarily getting in fights and stuff but just keeping things organized. I do like the sig mods tho

i was more thinking of a "candy awards system", i mean, everytime someone likes a post made by someone else, he can click to give a candy to the poster and its topic .... so spam won't be rewarded in this system, and best topics + best posters will be easily identified

Homer wrote:it wouldnt Andrew if you add more mods. There is only Garrett doing the business as deserved.Yohance doesnt post as he used to. i didnt see the new mod doing any modding.i think you should add at least 2 new mods.this way you can stop spammers.if you wanna see what the feature i mentioned is like check the site i pmed you.
There forum is actually running more smoothly than it has for a long time, so there hasn't been much need for all the mods to be posting warnings. I really don't think we need any more moderators at the moment.

I don't really see the point. I don't think it would add anything to the forum.

How about just having a system where members rate other members?
Tue Jun 15, 2004 10:49 am
Sorry, I really don't like that idea. That's a system that can lead to bitter feelings and flames. It's pretty easy to identify the quality of a forum member's contribution to discussions by their posts.

Yeah, I kinda thought of that afterwards. Some people that don't like other members would just rate them really low.

Just an update: I'm still planning on installing these mods ASAP, I just want to be sure that I completely understand what I'm doing with changes to the database and various files, so that I don't accidently mess up the whole forum.

I trust you, Andrew!
