Yeah, I imagine it's a tough decision. It's a huge commitment to make and obviously a lot of hard work, without the relative security of a uni degree and a grad position, or an apprenticeship or whatever. It seems to me like you've got to put all your eggs in one basket to succeed in the industry, which is a lot to ask of yourselves and not usually the best way of handling things, so the risk probably puts an end to a lot of talented bands (or keeps them hobbyist). But that would be awesome if you guys could make it.
