2012 Olympics

Postby [Q] on Sun Jul 29, 2012 5:49 pm

highlights so far:
-the blind Korean archer (the world record holder) gets beat by the US team.
-Abby Wambach gets sucker punched in a match only to come back and score a goal
phpBB [video]

-Michael Phelps probably slacked off and gets bested by his rival Lochte
-USA basketball faces France in about 5 hours. Parker will play with goggles due to the eye injury sustained in the Drake/Chris Brown brawl

Watching the Nigeria vs Tunisia game now. Can only say that I've heard of Aminu and Diogu out of all the players involved.

I'll probably watch the Brazil vs Australia game later too. USA vs France looks to be shown on delay for some reason though. (N)

Phelps didn't slack off in 400m IM final (in heats yes). Nobody slacks off in finals. He's just getting old.

Good to see the Kiwi double sculls rowing smash WR in heats yesterday. Hoping they continue their form & bring home gold for NZ.

Boomers should've won the game. Ahh well, another slow start to an Olympics bball tournament for them. Was hoping they beat Brazil so they could aim to get a top 2 spot in Group B, but now looks unlikely. The goal has to be to win 3 out of the last 4 & secure 3rd place & avoid US. Unfortunately that means beating China (they'll do that), Great Britain (they'll also do that) and Russia (say 35-65 chance) or Spain (say 15-85 chance). It they only squeaked out of the group in 4th then hopefully USA falls to Argentina & drops to 2nd place in group

Caught the last few minutes of the Boomers game, so close to making that comeback. That kicked ball to reset the shot clock was a really unlucky break, they could've had ample time to make a game-tying or game-winning shot if not for that.

I watched the first half of USA-France, and stopped when it became a blowout.
And not to mention all the countless water sports NBC airs -_-

NZ with 3 men's rowing golds in last day or so. Puts us 10th on medal tally. Obviously we'll drop down soon, but great to see a few golds. Doing NZ proud.

The commentators overreaction when Cambage (barely) dunked was embarrassing. "Huge story" "Never been done before" "Olympic history" etc... :facepalm2:

I mean, it was pretty cool to see, but it's not like she did a 360 between the legs dunk.

I thought it was pretty cool. A woman dunking in a basketball game is pretty rare. It's good for the woman's game.

Searching for "Lisa Leslie dunk" and "Candace Parker dunk" should yield better results.

Today we are going to have our first gold/silver medal, I hope it will be gold.

Servet Tazegül, taekwondo practitioner defeated Martin Stamper (or something like that) and reached to finals.

Tomorrow Aslı Çakır Alptekin and Gamze Bulut will run at 1500 meters. I hope they'll get medals too.
