September 2011: The Real Threat to America Still Remains

Postby benji on Sun Sep 11, 2011 12:34 pm

Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern explains:

phpBB [video]

You know if you just look at it in practical terms, which has destroyed and ended the life of more people? Terrorism attack here in America or HIV/AIDS? In the last twenty years, fifteen to twenty years, we’ve had maybe three terrorist attacks on our soil with a little over 5,000 people regrettably losing their lives. In the same time frame, there have been hundreds of thousands who have died because of having AIDS. So which one’s the biggest threat? And you know, every day our young people, adults too, but especially our young people, are bombarded at school, in movies, in music, on TV, in the mall, in magazines, they’re bombarded with ‘homosexuality is normal and natural.’ It’s something they have to deal with every day. Fortunately we don’t have to deal with a terrorist attack every day, and that’s what I mean. It’s more dangerous, and yes I think that it’s also more dangerous because it will tear down the moral fiber of this nation. We were founded as a nation upon the principles of religion and morality, if we take those out from under our society we will lose what has made us a great nation, we will no longer be a virtuous people, which we see happening already. And without virtue this nation will not survive.

I don't know, Las Vegas seems to do alright. Apparently it will more or less survive the Great War in 2077 intact as well.

I guess I don't talk to enough people, watch enough movies or TV, read enough magazines, etc. because not once have I been told that homosexuality is normal/natural. Guess that makes me a heterosexual outcast?

You didn't learn in health class that it is a natural thing which is a normal aspect of human sexual orientation?

I never payed much attention in health class, and when I did, don't remember the teacher ever bringing up the subject. I am 95% sure of that.

Look, you cant base your belief of homosexuality on what they taught you in Health class. Most schools have a strict christian slant and therefore you will never be "taught" homosexuality is normal.

There's homosexuality in the animal kingdom pretty prevalently though. Even animals that can switch gender on need basis. I'd say its pretty normal

It is likely to just be a cultural difference. Its easy to forget not all places are left-wing bubbles. Not just in health class, but at school assemblies as well, we were taught to respect LGBT people, and that its a natural thing that can't be changed (sorry Marcus Bachmann)

My views on homosexuality aren't based on health class either - why would anyone choose to be gay?

Because it gives them an identity to label themself with and act like. Know plenty that choose. Know more that didnt.

Its just as easy to forget that everywhere isnt the bible belt

Herd mentality. Fitting in to survive. The more publicly accepted homosexuality is, the more you will see it. Not because there are more of them out of the closet, but because it will be the new "in" thing at the time.

A couple of weird theories have come up during random drunken group conversations with friends. One was that it has something to do with how "life" was aware of itself on so many "levels" and that something inside gay people doesn't want them to reproduce because of some biological disorder or something. Another one that actually made some sense was that people in general were too ignorant to understand that they had their own point of view and opinions of what they find attractive, and that some people just confuse themselves wondering why they are checking out people of the same gender and eventually convince themselves they are homosexual.
