Buying Consoles Overseas

Postby Kenny on Tue May 17, 2011 4:07 pm

I'm currently looking at this console on eBay called "Retron 3". It plays NES, SNES and Megadrive (Genesis) cartridges. The seller is in USA and I was wondering the following:

-Are there any particular rules when it comes to buying consoles overseas?
-Are these type of consoles legit?

I've bought DVDs and music equipment without any issue, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

It's legit and there shouldn't be any legal issues in importing it but you'd need to buy an adapter to plug in the power cable. You should be able to get one from JB Hi-Fi or OfficeWorks. Compatibility with PAL cartridges might be a concern but then this article doesn't mention that being an issue. Probably worth doublechecking though.

Thanks Andrew, I really want to buy this because I'm massive nostalgia geek and I have heaps of Megadrive cartridges and a few SNES ones laying around too.
