Top 5 Must Listen Albums

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

essentials:

1. dark side of the moon - pink floyd
2. the joshua tree/achtung baby - u2
3. ok computer - radiohead
4. moondance/astral weeks - van morrison
5. led zeppelin iv - led zeppelin
6. london calling - the clash
7. nevermind - nirvana
8. bod dylan - i dont know which one i tend to mix him, blonde on blonde is good a choice as any
9. rain dogs - tom waits
10. hotel california - the eagles

notables: beatles, aerosmith, rem, oasis, springsteen, etc. etc.

more recents (that i can remember):

1. elephant - the white stripes
2. (sorry) come away with me - norah jones
3. low end theory - a tribe called quest
4. parachutes - coldplay
5. o - damien rice
6. now that i've found you - alison krauss

i'm probably missing something, but i forget, sorry.

by the way, whats up with all these new cheese ass so-called rock bands? do these guys have phlegm or something? no one does it better than tyler or adams or mr. tom waits. all i hear on radio is the same thing over and over and over again, and most of it is just plain noise. blowing my nose or flushing the toilet is more preferable to listen to....... well, actually, maybe thats a wee bit unfair -- my flush is somewhat stylishly exquisite........ and theirs a certain essence to my, uh, blow

Prime examples of that, The Thrills and Franz Ferdinand. FF are so far up their own ass it's not funny, and The Thrills? Why is a band from Scotland singing about California?

"Astral Weeks" is quite good, though I can't listen it twice on the same month...

"Rain Dogs", I had this one here in my HD for some time, but only gave it a listen tonight, what a great album, his voice is creepy but I LOVE it... Great songs, great content, (Y)

B'ah The Source, they're too biased. I look at it to find out about new artists but not to listen to their opinions.

A Scarface song to download Scarface - Recognize I'm lovin' it.

yeah i know the Source are biased. Just check out Benzino's reviews. But still, they gave The Fix 5 mics. It's a V good album, and Scarface is a good lyricist. He raps about life not fantasy shit like pimpin. Anyways, his nomination doesn't really count cos Jay Z was also nominated for lyricist of the year  Jay Z has crappy lyrics

damnit, raps THE shit

anyway, on Kanye West, i think he's kinda like 50 Cent (both have their jaws stuffed up). Hopefully though the accident won't be something he'll be talkin bout in his songs. It's funny how all the supposed "good albums" are actually shit. We need more artist like 2Pac, Nas and Scarface and not more Chingy's or 50's. Speaking of Nas, i think he's on a decline in his career. Based on his reputation, he could release noises of himself in the toilet and still sell 1mill+ copies. Whatever happened to those guys that rap about political issues, REAL life in the streets etc....the real stuff. None of this fake shit like pimpin. 50 is not a pimp as he claims. If he is, then he just contradicts himself on Joe's "ride wit u" and his "21 questions". Pimp rappers in love don't exist. 50 is soft, he's just trunna sell records so he comes out with commercial shit. He thinks he's #1 in the game, but really i think 50 isn't a good rapper at all.

Anybody care to name some rappers that reallt spit the lyrics? Guys like Nas, 2Pac, Scarface, Talib Kweli etc

I really hate rap now, it's all ego and bullshit. None of them are as hardcore as they like to believe, and it seems now people will buy any old crap just because it has a "PARENTAL ADVISORY" sticker on it

rap is real soft now. And all that 'hardcore' shit is fake. If 2Pac was still alive the Westcoast and Rap in general wouldn't be so shitty. It's all bullshit, that's why i'm looking for sum underground stuff + old skool stuff

It's amazing how bad music has gotten these days...Seriously, some of the music you guys are posting sucks(Rap/Hip Hop, Pop, and this new stuff people like to call rock and roll, but it's really just no-talent people playing power chords over and over).

Where have all the talented bands gone? MTV is terrible, really a sorry excuse for a music channel.

My sister was in the car the other day and I had some Zeppelin going, and she said, "This isn't music, you need to play some Nelly." Right.
