Getting girls

Gaining muscle weight actually makes you stronger, not just heavier. So you are quicker, can jump higher, can physically keep defenders at bay, can grab girls to keep them from running from you, etc.

You have to be careful with it, Andrew Bogut put on too much muscle in his second season and it slowed him down quite a lot. He couldn't jump as high, move as fast and it affected his shooting.

Agreed, Bogut is looking a lot more nimble (& effective) on his feet now.
For basketball, I think bulk muscle is far from ideal.

It works for LeBron, Dwight, Shaq, etc. but that's more about lean mass than overall mass.

Especially if you are really skinny. I gained nearly 10 pounds in a week in high school and when I played basketball I couldn't get my damn feet off the ground to move. As soon as I lost the weight, I was flying again.
