Your Madden franchise

Postby Colin on Sun Nov 02, 2003 4:14 pm

Well, I created myself (a 93 ovrl WR) on the Falcons and went from there. I'm 13-2 with one more game left against the Jaguars. If I win I get the best record in the league tied with Green Bay, and I get 1st place cause I scored more points or something. I have 11 players in the pro bowl (notables are Colin, Price, Vick, Crumpler, Bob Whitfield, Bob has 30 more pancakes while blocking than the next leading blocker, and Colin leads the NFL in TD receptions) I just won a close 6 pointer against the Bucs, and I hada great game against Baltimore where I won with 5 ticks left on a field goal. I'll post tomorrow (or soon) on whether I beat the Jags.

What about yours?

I'm in week 8 with Jacksonville Jaguars. I was trying to develop Leftwich into a premier quarterback, and I accomplished that in just 3 weeks  . Currently, he has the highest rating in the league, most passing yards, most touchdowns, etc, etc. It's not as realistic as I would have liked, but it's great to win every game (well, I guess not that great).

So the first thing I did even before the season started was to trade Mark Brunnell for a first-round pick and a third-string QB. And then I managed to get Andre Johnson for Jimmy Smith and Charles Rogers for Hugh Douglas (he's getting very old). I like to have formidable QB-WR-WR-HB combinations. I also got Troy Edwards into my roster just like in real life. Yes, as you can see, I'm a very offensive-minded guy but my defense isn't doing bad at all.

It's looking very good so far. Also, there is a glitch where when you load a saved file of middle of the game, the ticket sale you earned for that game gets counted into your balance again. It's a little cheating-like but I have a cash asset of like 130 million thanks to that glitch.

I created 32 teams using my Custom teams and a few others from Custom Madden Depot... look for Jared H or Pirate that is me

But I created the teams in places like Juneau Alaska nad Missoula Montana then put NFL scrubs and created players on the teams. My Wyoming Herd were in first place and Senecca Wallace was leading in Passing and Rushing.

Beat the Jags, then the Rams and now I'm in the conference finals.

I have a created team too, Vancouver Vipers, bright green and yellow jersey kind of like the Oregon Ducks. I am the QB at 96 ovrl (yea it's really good) and a WR that's 93 ovrl. I decided to play a game on the lowest difficulty with 2 minute quarters and won 77-0. Every play was shotgun 3wr 2rb and streaks, Colin passed to the WR everytime, only two passes that weren't TD's. :O

Yes, on the two-minute drill, provided I use either the Colts or the Vikings and it's on the lowest difficulty, I can pile up heaps of points easily using the same play every time. Way ahead of the CPU's high score, but I guess it's too easy to feel proud of.

I won the superbowl, in your face patriots. Ray Buchannon had 3 interceptions, and 1 39 return for a TD. Brady had an awful game, and I won by 14 even though Vick went out for the game in the late 1st. Went through the off-season shit and have a team rated 87 overall. :D

Jeffx Giants franchise

I just finished Year 5 with a 15-1 record and went for my third straight Lombardi Trophy. I lost in the divisional round to the 8-8 Seattle Seahawks, 24,21. The 87-rated G-Men will try to rebound in Year 6.

Lombardi trophy? which one would that be.

After going through my first off-season I will say that it is amazing. I managed to sign Houschmondz or something for pretty cheap and he's playing well. I also got a halfback that was around 77. In the draft my best pick was a 78 ovrl TE in the 4th round. Scouting a player doesn't help at all. How pointless. Won an OT thriller to GB for the first game of the season.

Ike Hilliard retired & I didn't resign Amani Toomer, so I went for wide receivers. So far I'm 3-1 in the tough NFC East. Madden is so much better when you draft college players from NCAA. IMO, the best Madden site is Maddenmania.com. You can read about my franchise there.

im 2-6 in the 2nd year in my Jets Chise.
Chad Pennington threw ike 29 INT's last season and has 12 so far :?
We have a great team, but everytime i get a run going, chad either throws an interception or martin/jordan will fumble.(not all the time but still)
Santana Moss is having a great year, after recieving 1011 yards last season, hes already got 996 yards and 9TD's
hes in the lead for WR of the year and prolly would be for mvp if my team won more.
Dewayne Robertson has built on a great Rookie year with 42 tackles and 6 sacks and 4 FF with 33 tackles and 9 sacks so far.

i'm on my second year with the Houston Texans. my first year was just a trial coz i was still testing sliders.. i had 19-0 record on my first year winning the superbowl and sending almost half my team to the probowl. in my current season i'm 9-1(finally found the perfect slider setting). i lost to Green Bay 24-17. very close fight too bad i didn't convert the 4th down play.

so i guess that's it..

I just bought the game a week ago.

I'm in my 1st year with my Redskins franchise. My record is 3-2 now and I have a $10.08M salary cap.

I'm using Trung Canidate as my premier halfback but he doesn't have the strength to break tackles so I'm thinking about trying to trade for a good halfback before Week 6. I'm interested in trying to get either Corey Dillon, Priest Holmes, or Stephen Davis (I'd love to see him in a Redskins uniform again :P).

ON the subject of oldies. The Raiders had something like five 90 ovrl+ players retire and went from 12-4 to currently something like 4-6. I beat them by a last minute TD. Very good game.

actually from my exp.. when i resign robert porche who is 33 i sign him to a 7yr contract and i will pay him less for the first couple of years and by the time i have to pay him alot of money he will have already retired clearing up any money i owed him... so refuze who have it wrong if you see an old FA or you have an old player you have to resign and you dont see any other good players available at his position sign him to a 7 yr contract so you have more money that year to spend on other players who are young and on the verge of becoming superstar... that money i saved on porche i was able to sign deltha oneal with that cash.. so you see its helpfull to reward your OLD stars.. just make sure you draft a rookie who can step in there when he retires or just sign a FA to replace him.

I signed Larry Centers to a 7 year deal worth 10 million. Then the next year later, he retired and for some reason I was still paying his salary. :|

My offensive line (3 out of 5 of them were pro-bowl players last year) is falling apart. I have no time to throw last 2 games I've been sacked a total of 7 times! And about 9 times in those I;ve had a really screwed up pass because of being hit. Any tips on this? It may have something to do with playing the Bucs.

Another thing that might contribute in my part is many times I'm about 3/4 of the way through the forward motion to throw and Mike Vick pulls it back and takes the sack? Is this supposed to happen because it pisses me off.

Well, the Bucs have the two best defensive tackles: Sapp and MacFarland

It may also depend on your sliders settings, whether you have "Break Block" set to a high amount for the CPU.

Speaking of sliders, does anyone know where I can find one to give me realistic results?

If you want a nice change of pace, get EA's NCAA Football 2004. Madden's graphics are better, but the gameplay in NCAA is way above Madden. The DB A.I. is really top-notch.

My created receiver just had 19 receptions in a game!!! :)

I started out going against the Rams and he was open, then he was open again, and again, and I just kept throwing to him (253 yards, 4 TD's, only 1 drop) and all his recpetions were fairly easy. There was two tough ones and the one drop was a 41 yarder in the end-zone against double coverage that Madden chewed him out for (that guys been putting in extra time at practice catching balls, im surprised he dropped that.)

Didn't want to make a new thread, but I did want to brag.

Other notables from the game Mike Vick, 45? yards, 5 TD's, 1 pick.
Warrick Dunn, 81 yards on just 13 carries, 2 TD's

It was 6 minute quarters on all-pro.
