So, today I was trying to install a game, but I couldn't get the launcher file to respond. I tried to run it in Notepad mode and accidentally had "Do this for all files" checked. Now all of my applications (Chrome, Zune, etc.) want to be opened with Notepad, and have the Notepad logo. I'm only able to type this here because I already had Chrome open.
Does anybody know how to fix this?

I'd go with the solution in the first link, or the last post in the third link myself.
If you wanted to do it manually, I'm guessing you could select Tools -> Folder Options from any folder in Windows, select the File Types tab, scroll down until you find the EXE extension (which will be set to open with Notepad) and hit the Delete button.

Thanks guys. I tried and failed to do a system restore at first because its a .exe file, then tried solution 1, which didn't work since I use Windows 7. The other two were over my head, so I tried a few last-ditch efforts to do a system restore, and my computer somehow let me. The desktop icons now appear as blank folders, but it nonetheless works.

Yikes! That's not so much better. Hope you can figure out how to get it back to its state

Wasn't hard to fix. Just went Properties -> Change Icon. A couple icons are missing, but I can live with that. Chrome and Zune's icons are there, which are what I use most.

First thoughts: 'How the fuck do you get your dick stuck in a computer?'
