Ive been to Australia, Canada, and Brazil. Australians were the nicest, the best food, and the best drivers in my 2 weeks in each spot. Go figure. I'm gonna say australia is the greatest country ever based on a 2003 trip that has as much relevance as anything you just said.

Or I could just tell you to calm down that opinions are opinions and people are allowed to disagree.

Well, you have been there for a week and that definitely gives you the right to have an own opinion. Still you have to be aware that it does not reflect the country in general. That's kind of creating prejudices. It's like many Germans say that in Poland they steal a lot of cars. That's a prejudice. Actually I read that the crime rate in Germany, especially for car stealings, is a lot higher than in Poland. I'm pretty sure some guys went over there with their Mercedes and parked it in a dark alley and then wondered why their car got stolen. And then they said "The Polish steal cars".

So I would not be bothered by someone taking away your bag, that can happen everywhere.

Sure, but the way you're expressing them is coming off as being pretty arrogant. It seems to me that because of a couple of bad experiences that could conceivably happen anywhere in the world, you've concluded that Australia is a horrible country and Australians are horrible people. To me that seems a little unfair.

PAN WANKZ wrote:This what I saw in your roads is mine so I think that our drivers have better skill of driving because I have compared it. I have my own opinion, you wouldn't change it.

Fair enough but a glance at the statistics says otherwise. In 2004, the number of road traffic deaths per 100,000 for Australia was 7.9 (11th lowest on that list) while in Poland the number of road traffic deaths per 100,000 was 15 (almost twice as much, the highest on the list). Cutting the sampling down to 10,000 yields a similar ranking for the countries. Now, I've never been to Poland so I have no personal experiences from which to make a comparison, but given the higher mortality rate on the roads in Poland - proven by cold, statistical data - that you've got your fair share of bad or irresponsible drivers over there, at least as many as Australia if not more. You're entitled to your opinion, but the numbers don't really back you up.

PAN WANKZ wrote:"cast aspersions on", hoho, I haven't known this idiom yet, thanks.

It's not an idiom.

PAN WANKZ wrote:If someone was in Poland and experienced something like that I woundn't argue with him, why should I do it? I would understand him, he was here, he experienced something, he can think whatever he want to, these are just his feeling. I don't care about it.

Your posts in this very thread suggest otherwise.

cyanide wrote:I've been to Poland before, and I'm pretty sure drivers there are not any better than in Australia. It just sounded like you had bad luck.

cyanide wrote:Sorry, but in our roads there are not aggressive drivers, maybe a few. In Australia I saw last week that there are lots of this kind of drivers and they are unskilled. Sad but true.

That's someone who has been to Poland, formulated an opinion on the subject at hand and expressed that opinion...which you have disagreed with and argued against. You offered a dissenting opinion, just as I've done.

There was one time I got into a fight with undercover police in other country. It didn't escalate to fist fight, but it of course was a shitty experience. I failed to present a legit identification card and that was the reason. I mean who the hell carries passport around when you are staying in that country for like months. Anyways, af first glance, I didn't buy they were cops so I refused to accompany them to the station. Then they grabbed so I pushed him away. Rest is you don't wanna hear kind...

The point is, anything bad can happen to you anywhere. Some bad trips sure can leave a bad taste like eating Chinese food for the first time, but it's mostly due to not being used to the culture. Australia I believe is a friendly nation that are open to accept different people from all over the world thus in result sophisticated and open minded than usual. Next time you go there, PAN WANKZ, I hope you find it more pleasant. Besides, folks here at NLSC have good reasons to be upset about your comment. You sound arrogant just like Andrew pointed out and also premature in the way you portrayed your experience.

There's a bunch of things about Australia that need improvement, but on an overall scale, there are a bunch of things that make it the lucky country. You can have a bad time anywhere in the world, but making generalisations because of something a small amount of people have done is a form of prejudice, is it not?

If you were in a big city, traffic was bound to be worse and with more people on the road, the more chances you're going to get bad drivers. As for that kid at the airport, it's a horrible thing to happen, but once again, one bad egg doesn't represent an entire country. For example, America was represented by George Bush and he was an absolutely horrible president (in my opinion). Did I hate America because of him? No, and the reason for this is because I know that America also has a lot of my favourite sports, music, television shows, movies and media personalities.

Australia has many things going for it and making a judgement because you've been here for a week is a bit insulting.

Yes, these bad experiences could happen anywhere in the world, but them happened in your country, in Australia so?
Horrible country? Of course no, but in other places of the world I haven't experienced something like this. Sounds unfair? Maybe.

You should stop comparing it. Why? It's very simple - in Poland there are about 900 kilometers of motorway (HAHA, The area of my country is 322 575 km²). Our roads are terrible, only a few percent are in European norm. Any conclusions?

Then you possibly need to work on your english. You've said everything and come off as an arrogant ass who judged a country based on 1 bad week. My car got broken into but you dont see me citizen arresting every person i see where i was robbed do you? You're pretty much doing the same with every statement you make.

I got bored with a couple posts left, but Pan is right. People cannot drive in Australia. The roads are shithouse and constantly get jammed, and people drive too slow.

Some cunt yesterday was in the right hand lane (of 3 lanes) for probably 2km (then i lost sight) going 60 in an 80 zone, with traffic jammed up behind him. Bring back capital punishment for shitheads like this!

Sorry, but that's the way your posts are coming off. Perhaps that's not your intention, but that's the impression that I'm getting and clearly I'm not alone in that intepretation. We're just calling it as we see it, same as you did.

PAN WANKZ wrote:Don't think so.

Then why did you disagree with cyanide so vehemently in the example that I posted? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, you simply posted a dissenting opinion. Just as I've done.

Ah yes, I remember that. I can see where they're coming from, it's all well-intentioned but to me it seems another case of dealing with the smaller issue because it's easier and they can be seen to be doing something. If that's what people are into, that's a little weird but whatever. I wouldn't put it on the same level as real photos of children or the people actually committing any kind of sexual assault (with children or adults) and it seems to me there are issues there that need to be addressed - like the tendency to release pedophiles from prison straight back into society where they molest again - but I suppose you've got to start somewhere.

Fair enough. At any rate, it's a shame you didn't enjoy your time here as other people seem to have in the past, travelling abroad is certainly about enjoying yourself and the places you visit. I'm sorry to hear that your visit to Australia didn't go down that way.

I wasnt insulting you because it sounds funny. not in the least. i was saying your choices of words and use of heavy sarcasm/defensive language is making you come off as an arrogant person. Simple changes in it would fix alot of the misunderstandings here. Im not judging your use of the language: you're actually alot more intelligible than some of the people we've encountered where english isnt their first language. Just letting you know your style of response is leading to certain conclusions that have nothing to do with what you intend.
