Paranormal Activity

Postby Doobie on Thu Oct 08, 2009 1:47 am

This movie has very limited showings in the US, and I am going to NY next week to check it out. According to a friend of mine (who hardly get's scared.) it was the scariest movie he has ever seen in his life... Anyone know anything of it or planning on seeing it?

Saw this movie. I swear it is the scariest thing I've seen. I can't sleep tonight.

i thought this movie was weak for the hype it's getting. the premise sounded good and i wanted to get scared. maybe if this movie came out before blair witch or even quarantine, i would have liked it?

not trying to give too much away...possible spoilers here...
i give the movie credit for building up the tension/psychological suspense. however i thought it was drawn out too much. it should have ended a few "nights" earlier. i kept on hoping "this was the night the shit was going to happen". after a few "nights" you kinda figured this isn't ending on a happy note. the payoff was not worth the wait.

maybe if there was more doubt along the way suggesting that perhaps it was something else causing the "problems" (like how in the beggining the micah's talking about a stalker kid or something)

It doesn't come out in Australia 'till December but I'm certainly looking forward to it.

I'm the type that scares quite easily (the car scene in the Thai version of Shutter kept me from solo night driving for a week), but I LOVE the feeling of being absolutely shit scared out of my mind (Y) . I heard some people were physically shaking/walking out of the theaters during the initial screenings during film festivals. So yeah, after the disaster Drag Me To Hell was, I have high hopes for this little movie.

My advice, watch it on the first day it comes out before everyone you know talks about it and hypes it up.
I was a bit disappointed after everyone said they were scared shitless and I was hoping for a similar experience.
The movie was still very good and I loved every bedroom scene, great way of building suspense.
Just wished it was a bit longer, and it explained more clearly about the demon itself.

All hype. I want my $7 and 90 minutes back. First hour or so was extremely dull. I suppose they were developing the characters, but the acting was too poor for it to work. Even when shit started to happen though, it wasn't really scary. The scene where she stands up and starts fidgeting for an hour was a little creepy, but it was pretty lame overall

So poor movie. If you want to see the real horror, just check "Frontier(s)" or "Martyrs". These movies are from France. I do not want to watch films for kids. If it is called "horror" it has to be scary, but it isn't. Dont have time for watching stupid films.
