Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Postby Lean on Sat Jul 14, 2007 1:29 pm

IGN's Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Page (PS3)

I don't own a PS3, but I'm looking forward for this on the PS2. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is set between Star Wars Episodes III and IV and lets you play as Darth Vader's secret apprentice. This will be released on spring of 2008. By then I should have a PS3 :(

The story revolves around Darth Vader's secret apprentice, when Vader learned that Emperor Palpatine is just using him to rule the entire galaxy. The timeline of the story is between III and IV, the time when the Jedi are being wiped out. Several characters from the Prequel Trilogy are set to appear in the game. It is said to have multiple endings. But I believe you have to play as a bad guy (Sith) in this game.

Check the newest trailer. That one's cool.

Wow, never thought this thread is two years old now. Pardon the bump but as a Star Wars geek...

...The Force Unleashed will be released on PC late this year. Those scumbags kinda released it too late.

DLC packs will be released on the consoles and is available in-game once you finished the game with the alternate ending. The Ultimate Sith Edition will be released on the PC (original game + DLC packs).

EDIT:

Here's the main character, after the non-canon ending from the main game:

I need to continue playing this game. I played the demo, bought it, and it was just bad timing because I had other games at the time I wanted to play more, so I never finished it. I did the same with Skate.

I still plan to get this even once released in the PC platform. Wonder how this will fare in my unit, Batman's PhysX plugin runs slow in my PC, I think that TFU has like three external physics engines in it?

Thanks for pointing it out, Havok's fine with my PC (Fallout 3, the Hitman games, etc). Haven't tried a game with Euphoria though I think only GTA IV and TFU has Euphoria running in-game.

It's a great game I have loved playing it over the past year. I am looking forward to the Ultimate Sith Edition.

Rant time.

I got the game and it runs on my unit. Problem is -- and as for what I've read in some other PC reviews -- the PC version drops its FPS horrendously therefore reacting late on your control. The game has high specs: GeForce 8800 above and 20GB space for a game. In my opinion, Arkham Asylum looks better than this game. I think that this is just an issue of bad porting. You can't even optimize the game's detail settings. And it crashes once in a while too. The BINK videos in-between missions aren't "ported" for 4:3 or for widescreen monitors so they just appear to be forcefully fit in my monitor.

Lord Vader will be very furious.

It's basically hack-and-slash, I thought it's more of like the Jedi Knight series.

Yeah and you can't aim the force throw thing or have proper control of your swings either. It's too bad. I was feening for a good star wars game.

I thought it's more of like the Jedi Knight series.

That's what I thought too but after reading the reviews, it doesn't seem to be quite on the same level as those games, and it does have its fair share of technical issues.
I guess it's a good thing I decided to pass on that one...

Same here. When they first announced I was all damn excited. When they announced that it will be an MMORPG, and saw that the lightsaber's in-game are like fluorescent lamps.... :shake:
