Some changes to the NLSC Forum

Postby Andrew on Sat Oct 03, 2009 5:14 am

You may have noticed a couple of changes to the NLSC Forum, namely the addition of a few new sections and the condensing of some old ones. As attention shifts away from the previous releases, we've combined some of our old NBA Live sections so that each game from NBA Live 2003 through NBA Live 09 utilises just one section apiece, in addition to a combined section dedicated to discussion of NBA Live 95 through NBA Live 2002.

We have also added a couple of new NBA Live 10 sections as well as some new NBA 2K10 sections for our visitors who prefer 2K's game, in anticipation of the release of both games next week. A section for NCAA Basketball 10 has also been added and the NBA 2K9 sections have been archived with the older NBA Live releases. The general NBA Live discussion area has also been opened up to threads for all NBA video games (including the NBA Live series as a whole), past or present. NBA Street, NBA Jam, Tecmo's new NBA game for XBL Arcade...you name it.

We hope you like the revamped Forum and won't find the changes too difficult to get used to. If you have any questions about the changes to the Forum, please let us know. Once again, please let me stress that in spite of all the changes we are most certainly remaining an NBA Live website and it will remain the focus of our coverage. Look out for new roster updates soon as well as lots of stuff for NBA Live 10 once we get our hands on it.

I still need a little to get used too. I thought there are no more patching section. It was combine with their respective Live threads right? So for example the Live 08 section is now a patching, general and anything about live 08 right? Still great work Andrew

That's right, those sections are for anything and everything relating to their respective games.

I don't like the changes here..

I like the old forums style where they separate the patching previews and releases to the requests and questions thingy, currently, it's confusing me! i don't like it, even 1% of it. Anyone here feels the same way?

I think it's not appropriate forum section to talk about that, but I feel the same...

I'm sorry you don't like the new approach; unfortunately, there's no going back as I'm not going to sift through thousands of posts to sort them back into different categories.

The change was made because frankly, there's not enough activity in the older sections to justify multiple sections for NBA Live 95 through NBA Live 09. I understand that it might take a bit of time getting used to - it's only been a few days, give it time - but on average there aren't that many new or active topics in those sections and mostly they tend to be either a patching question or a new release anyway. If anything, it should be less confusing because there's only one section to post new topics in for those games.

He doesn't know which section he's banned from and accidentally clicking those sections thus the confusion.

The Patch Request and Releases and talks about Live 08, altogether are all in one place.

They are and I realise that that's a significant change, but we've been doing that with the sections for NBA Live 2000-2004 for a while now. There just isn't the activity in those sections to justify three sections each.

I realise it's a bit of an adjustment but if nothing else there's no worries about posting in the wrong sections for those titles. The topic of a thread is usually identifiable by its title as well, patch release threads in particular standing out as their titles usually refer quite specifically to the latest work available therein.

I have no problem with it. I like it better then the old one. This could just be because I don't use the patching section but i like how everything about each live is in nba live _____ (whatever live you choose) i used to it know and i think its faster. (thought i say this because a few people are complaining)

Good to know. :) I do understand that it's not to everyone's liking, unfortunately you can't please everyone all of the time and changes often take a bit of time to get used to. Hopefully there won't be any confusion as people get used to it and it will serve our needs more efficiently; as I said, the multiple sections were getting to be overkill for the older titles.
