After a small price cut, a few extra gigabytes of storage and additional features, the current generation iPod Touch looks pretty damn sweet.
But is it really that sweet?
Ignoring the sweet usability UI, I'll list the major features:
1) It plays music, video and photos
2) Productivity tools such as browser, mail, contacts, calendar, notes, maps and stocks
3) Apps Store for extra stuff like a pdf reader, finance, fitness, news, sports updates, etc.
4) Games
I will not be using it primarily for 1 and 4, since I have better games and entertainment on my computer.
I will be using 2 and 3 often, but only when I'm not near my computer. My job involves me working on a computer.
Finally, it's not often I am alone, bored, and away from my computer at work or at home. When I am out, I am usually interacting with somebody. The only time I can think of using that device is when I'm bored, waiting for something, traveling, and away from my computer, which does happen, but not as often. Plus, I'm not sure how widespread free WiFi is. It's during those times that I would love to have a Touch, though.
So considering my "situation," for $230 (8 GB) or $300 (16 GB), is it worth getting?
And no, I don't want an iPhone because the pricing for the plans are ridiculous.
