This is quite possibly the worst "news" article I've read online.

Sandy’s high winds in Vermont to peak Mon. night
Posted on October 28, 2012 by Matt Sutkoski
High wind warnings are up for all if Vermont as Sandy continues its slow approach.

Forecasts for its tracks and its effects have really been consistent since yesterday. It will still probably slam ashore in New Jersey late Monday night or early Tuesday.

National Weather Service meteorologists in South Burlington say the wind potential for Vermont is pretty much of the charts, especially along the west slopes of the Green Mountains.

Sandy’s strong easterly winds will go up the east side of the mountains and then head down the west sides, gaining momentum all the way. So gusts in those areas could reach 80 mph in spots. Of course there will be widespread power failures.

The highest winds in Sandy are just above the surface, and the terrain grabs the winds and takes them to the surface, as in the western slopes. Elsewhere in Vermont, it will probably be an odd night in many areas of the state.

At times, the wind won’t be too bad, then a bit of high speed air finds its way to the surface and you get a huge wind gust of 50 to 60 mph. Then it calms down again, and a little later, another big gust.

It’s kind of hard to tell where, other than the western slopes of the Greens and in parts of the Northeast Kingdom, which areas will see the gusts hit ground most frequently. A few protected places may not have extreme winds, but it’s hard to predict where that would be. Just assume it’s going to get terribly windy where you are.

I stil don’t think rains will be too bad with this. There are flood watches in parts of Vermont where rain will be heaviest along the eastern slopes of the mountains. But I still highly doubt any flooding will get to the level of Irene.

Sandy will be remembered in Vermont for her wind, not flooding.

The highest winds will start late Monday afternoon, reach peak intensity Monday night and wane during the day Tuesday.

It could get strangely warm Monday night, especially in the hard hit western slope wind zones. The air tends to compress and warm as it heads down the mountains, so some areas there could see temperatures rise through the 60s Monday night. A+

All of the Northeast U.S. is under high wind, coastal flooding, inland flooding, storm surge and other warnings. Vermont is going to get slapped by this, but some people will have it worse.

Let’s hope people in the Northeast are ready, and nobody gets killed by this monster.

It's a small state.....I want to hunt this guy down.

BTW, Andrew, you'll love this. The forum edits it out, but a good half of the article has the double space sentence thing you hate, but the rest doesn't.

Years ago on my dumb blog I insulted a local dope's illogical column in the paper and he somehow found it and posted a bunch of angry comments.

Kinda like when I insulted that girl and she signed up here to defend herself.
