Man marks birthday with random cash handouts

Mon Jul 16, 2012 11:23 pm

Link.

Rather than be showered with gifts on his 65th birthday — an American man has taken the unusual step of marking the occasion by standing on the side of a road and randomly handing out money.

Doug Eaton asked his friends how he should celebrate the milestone and one of them suggested he perform 65 random acts of kindness, KFOR reports.

Video shows Mr Eaton standing at a busy intersection in Oklahoma City last week with a sign that reads "I have a home… and a car.. and a job. Do you need a few bucks for some coffee?". Mr Eaton spent 65 minutes handing out US$5 notes and said the experience was "fantastic".

Hats off to him for such a selfless gesture. I can't say I've ever celebrated a birthday that philanthropically.
