too bad none of these EA Sports games will maximize that card till the 2005 season--I think I'll be all right with my Geforce 4 Ti4600 for atleast a couple more versions of Live(crossing fingers  )

yea..your rig is more than enough to collapse any game atleast until 2004

This site also give a preview of the type of graphics capability it has and talks about the Geoforce FX card. Quite good read especially for someone who doesn't know a whole bunch about vid cards.

I might just pick up the 9700 to prep for the future. Do you think its a good idea or should I wait for its price to fall? All ideas welcome

Man could you imagine what games like madden and live would look like with that kind of graphic capability? Man its frightening.

well for those of you who are wondering what versions the new GeForce FX comes in, there are 2 versions. GeForceFX 5800 the regular card and cheaper one. Then theres the GeForceFX 5800 Ultra, which would be the flagship of NVIDIA. so you people want the card? start saving up lmao, the freakin card is $399 for the 5800, and $499 for the 5800 Ultra, thats insane!!

if you're someone with a nice stable job and no responsibilities...you can buy that....which excludes me

The Radeon 9700 Pro came out at that price.

Though I'm nearly a month late, P, I think you should wait for the GeForceFX so you can see the final numbers on performance. Though if you don't want to wait, get the ATI All-In-Wonder 9700 PRO.

Could AGP be on it's last legs with the monster that is PCI Express on the horizon?

hmm..i don't think so..
they haven't even really saturated the AGP bus yet..
even Doom3 will not take advantage of AGP 8X when it comes out..so all those new 8X Nvidia geforce4 cards are just a gimmick

Thanks ¤ ,

I'll take your advice since I don't know much in terms of video cards. But, for sports fans it seems like the graphic capibilities in the next 1-4 years will be incredible.

best,

P

I dunno about that. Doom III has a lot of stuff it's throwing around.

But seriously, you think that PCI Express, with it's 667Mhz default speed won't replace AGP? You can only push the AGP Bus so high since it's basically just a dedicated PCI one.
