iPod Help

Tue Jan 08, 2008 8:37 pm

I let my cousin borrow my iPod mini and he put the songs that his got on his pc onto the iPod but it deleted my original songs, so I'm just wondering now, since I've got it back, is there a way to put songs from my pc/iTunes on the iPod without erasing the ones that are already there.

Btw, I already tried clicking "Update songs on iPod" but that will put all the songs from the library into the iPod erasing the songs already there, which I do not want.

Specify only which folder to update/added to your ipod.. There's an option there, I can't remember the details.

I'm not sure I understood but I believe the best option is to rip the songs off your iPod and then add them to iTunes (and later on to your iPod along with all your other songs).

Look up iPod ripping on Google, there's lots of apps out there.

What do you mean "folder" ? All my songs are already in the iTunes library and if I click on update it will erase all the songs already on the iPod and replace them with the ones in the library. Maybe I misunderstood what you meant ?

Specify that you don't want iTunes to automatically update the library. But let you copy over them manually..

Just use Sharepod, it's much simpler to add songs with this program (Y)

Well I've lost all the songs on the iPod because iPod Rip is a fucking shithole, lol.

It dosen't update it automatically, but since you can't select all the songs and add them manually?, the only other option was to select the songs one by one and when I had 500 new songs that I wanted to put on, I wasn't going to do that.

Where were you earlier?

Shit, I read this thread before going to work and told myself I would help out when I got back (was in a rush). My bad, but for future reference if you use Windows, you could have made all files that were hidden viewable, plug in the ipod to the computer and just copy and paste the songs on to your computer. The file names may be all weird but it doesn't really matter.

^Damn, I forgot about that! Anyway, if you organize the icons by list you can see Artist and Title so if you need just a few songs, you know which files to copy.

My bad, I meant playlist.
Create a playlist, and only select that playlist to be updated in the iPod. The other songs will remain intact if I remember correctly.

Sucks that you screwed up though.
