the Gold Coast Big Day Out concert sold out in 13 minutes....fortunately, last night I waited up until after midnight & was able to get 3 tickets before they sold out....I got a mate flying over from Christchurch (he goes to BDO Auckland every year for last few years but wanted a change of scenery), & the other ticket will go to my older brother....

should be good....looking forward to seeing RATM 8-) Grinspoon are pretty sweet as well....

EDIT: I've been to Big Day Out once before....was back in 2004 & Metallica played....I flew over from Brisbane to Christchurch for holiday, & then took flight to & from Auckland to catch it....was good, with exception of wallet getting lost....so this will be my first one in 4 years....

You get to see Rage.
Damn you, bastards.

Rage is the only band I will spend money to watch live in concert.

Fri Oct 12, 2007 6:22 am

Enjoy watching Rage, that should be an amazing experience. I would love to see RATM live in concert except I don't think I would fit in as I'm not one to mosh/jump around.

Rage was unbelievable live. You will not be disappointed.

You would think that, then you get to the show. You dont have to get down on the floor to jump around but you'd be jiving from the sheer power of their songs. I catch myself getting influenced by rages songs just from albums so i think a show might actually be the best thing i'd ever seen. If I ever get a chance, I will see them.

Not one good band in that line-up in terms of my taste. Hope you guys enjoy it though. RATM and Grinspoon should be enjoyable.

I was about to e-bitch slap you, good thing you excluded Rage from those no good bands.

Fri Oct 12, 2007 10:41 pm

Actually you still can bitch slap him.

He didn't say Rage was a good band he only said it should be enjoyable.
:P

Fri Oct 12, 2007 10:48 pm

Meh. That's enough of a reason for me. It's Ty-Land anyway. If it was an unknown poster, I definitely would do it.

Fri Oct 12, 2007 10:57 pm

What if it was me :cheeky: ?

Fri Oct 12, 2007 11:20 pm

E-bitch-slap definitely. Emphasis on bitch.

I cannot respect the opnion of anyone that does not like Rage.

Sat Oct 13, 2007 10:39 am

I've never met someone who doesn't like Rage in some sense....to me, Rage's music seems to tap into a more raw emotion, especially in guys in today's society....it's just so catchy....the guitar work is utterly brilliant....I'm looking forward to seeing them when they are over (Y)

Let's see....I don't like rap...I don't like modern rock music...and all their political opinions I find to be garbage. Yeah, I pretty much do not like Rage.

What's wrong with modern rock music?

I don't particiularly agree with all of their political ideals either but I don't listen to them for that reason. I listen to them because I think it is admirable that they belive in something so strongly and are not willing to be complacent with today's society. That, and the instrumentals and vocal power blow me away.

Good. I didn't respect your opnion in the first place.

Well..OK. I can't say I'm bothered by that.

Opnion = opinion or what? You've done it twice now. First time I was able to intuit it but when you repeat it I have to question my interpretation.

who do you like then?

My favourite rock music is Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin & Metallica, but I also rate more modern bands like Tool & Rage Against The Machine

You can't be angry at me then use a joke I utilized mere days ago in the legendary Myspace thread.

I like, for example, Steely Dan as I posted in the Music Recommendation thread, but generally I listen to jazz from various eras (NOT smooth jazz, as it is not jazz and is embarrassing to all who play jazz), my favorite being 60s avant-garde, then folk and lots of classic rock as a guilty pleasure.

I'm appalled that none of the Aussies on here have expressed excitement over seeing Billy Bragg. Billy Bragg! Come on, people, get with it!

Rage's politics: (Y)
Rage's music: (N)

What's so great about their politics? I figured you would like their music given that they cover MC5 from time to time.

Sun Oct 14, 2007 5:10 pm

Just because they covered a good band doesn't mean they did it well. And I hate Tom Morello as a guitar player. Dude is really friggin' boring. As for their politics, well, I'm a total leftist.

And for the record, I'm not a huge MC5 fan. I do like them, but my username is actually a nickname I was given because of my last name. I liked it due to the play on the band's name, obviously.

I don't know who Billy Bragg is, but then again, I'm not a hardcore music fan, more of a casual one....
