Yes, I'm a geek. But the HP books are just addicting and full of surprises. Still at least 6-7 months before it comes out.

Nope, you're not a geek and I'll buy that book too. :P

your all children still right?

Sat Dec 23, 2006 2:27 am

I remember during the day that the new Harry Potter book finally arrived in Toronto, and guys were walking around with shirts saying "Dumbledore dies on page *insert page number*".

Sat Dec 23, 2006 3:45 am

That reminds me of an article somebody posted here about a guy killing himself when he found out what happens before he even read the book.

Nothing against you personally matt, more of a gripe of a person who uses this to justify why they dont read/watch "kids" stuff. But i hate statements like this. Why do we outgrow the classic stories? Why do we have to outgrow enjoyment of Good versus evil or stories of friendship, or humorous anecdotes? I just dont get it. Sure the writing may not be academic but hell, i enjoy the stories, they give me entertainment. It doesnt make me less intelligent that i enjoy a good basic story once in awhile.

I will admit right now: yes i read Harry Potter. Yes i watch spongebob (of which the movie was fucking hilarious), and there are few if any animated major movies in the past year i havent seen. They have all given me enjoyable entertainment for substantial time. Sure it may have been silly, but what happened to nostalgia? what happened to remembering what its like to be a kid and being able to appreciate it?

*end rant here*

Yeah.. and when the Simpson's the most popular show in America... :?

I know plenty of adults who read Harry Potter, and while I've never touched one, I do enjoy the movies, and am looking forward to the next one.

And for a slight bit of closure, we also have a release date: July 21, 2007. 5 months. not too long at all.

Fri Feb 02, 2007 2:27 am

it comes out on my birthday...well i got one present on my list already...although i have an idea what direction Rowling is gonna go with this ending...i hope she proves me wrong...

Fri Feb 02, 2007 7:00 am

I liked the movies, but there's no way in hell you could get me to sit down and read one of those books.

Fri Feb 02, 2007 10:19 am

If you only watch the movie, you miss a LOT...
I know they can't fit the whole plot of HP into a movie, but they leave out some important details.

Fri Feb 02, 2007 10:34 am

^ I manage.

well i know what you mean, especially being an Xmen fan and a lil disappointed by the movies, but i'm not a HP fan, so like bigh0rt said, I manage with the movies

Fri Feb 02, 2007 6:05 pm

I'm hardly a fan at all, but when the new book comes around i have to say i will read it and i will enjoy it, they are very addictive books, but i dont like the movies at all, the books are so some much more gripping....
Can't say im looking forward to it, infact i completely forgot there was another one coming out, but good to know, my mum should be happy i think.... she reads it before me (Y)

EDIT: Pretty strange name in my opinion: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Fri Feb 02, 2007 6:11 pm

if i remember correctly it has to do with an event in the sixth book...if i know how do the small font thing i'd explain but i dont wanna put spoilers

Fri Feb 02, 2007 8:16 pm

People who don't read, and think theyre too cool for it miss out on a lot...
