Eating programs

Sun Nov 05, 2006 9:52 am

I know Nick had a pretty simmilar thread some time ago, but suggestions there really werent too clear.

Recently I noticed I gained some weight, and even though I'm stronger than ever and all, I feel it isn't muscles that gained that weight. I know I am not eating healthy, so I would like some eating programs to take as excample of how to eat. I play basketball for my school, I am a PG/SG, so take notice, that I cant just go on some diet or something. I need to keep my strenght but lose some weight. Right now I am about 182cm and weight about 75-76 kilos. I would like it to be around 70. Any helpful suggestions?

Do you do enough excercise?

I think you need to load up on the carbs man! (Y)

Hold up... isn't 182 cms at 70 kgs make you real thin...

Well, in this case, I think not. I am thinking of goind to a gym for excercise, but I dont want to become slower. I think before I start going to a gym regulary again I have to start eating healthy. Well, 70 kg is light, so I guess if I would be ~73-75 when I bulk up a little I wouldnt mind. Have in mind that I am a point guard, and playing in Europe.

Gyming and getting stronger usually means you will lose quickness/mobility... it's like a tradeoff you will have to decide on. I'm sure that there are things to do to improve your speed/quickness but when you first start off, don't be concerned if you feel more clumsy/slow.

A good eating plan is just loads of fruit and veg and plenty of fish. I mean this is what the Islanders (Maoris, Samoans, Tongans) eating plan was 400+ years ago and look at them now (the rugby league players).

Yeah you have to look at the aspect of loosing speed I myself am quite fast and I have a slim build and I wanna keep my speed. But if you want to build up your strength go to the gym get on some body building programs and you should get your strength alot better.

Well that's the whole point. I currently have at most an average jumping ability, at 182cm I can touch the rim pretty easily. Anyways, I am fast and most importantly I have good balance, whitch I must keep. If the speed lowering can be compensated with more strenght, I must keep my balanse, because that's one of the things that helps me the most at BB. Anyways, about the eating, I know about the fruits and veggies, but I dont really know how much and how often to eat, thats the thing. I heard that you have to eat whenever you want, just try to eat in small amounts or smth. like that.
