H.264 (.m4v) and MPEG-4 (.mp4). I use Videora to convert videos and it's worked perfectly so far, no complaints about it at all...

Yeah i use Videora to convert my videos aswell..

I also have PQ DVD Converter to rip DVD's.. Its pretty awesome, it rips an entire movie down to around 200mb.

£173 and 30GB. Thats like a little more than $350. I am downloading videos off youtube as .flv so could anybody tell me a good program that I can use to convert the files into MP4 or M4V

I use the 3GP converter, free and easy. Once you have it to a version itunes will accept, you can use itunes to convert it to the kind that will actually go on your ipod. Or you can convert it directly with 3GP

I play videos/movies on my Nano. The shitty thing is that it only supports uncompressed AVI files, so a movie occupies almost all of the iPod memory (4GB).

some guy i know is selling me a 30G Ipod Video for $230 is that a good deal?

and now a very important quesiton, say you have tons of mp3 in your computer already, could you transfer them into your IPod Video? I heard that only music you paid for in Itunes are transferrable ... correct me if im wrong.

That's wrong, you can transfer any MP3's over to it.
