NCAA Football Preview (Must Read Part 2)

Mon Aug 21, 2006 9:12 pm

Here is part two of the college football preview (since one post didn't show everything). So I guess this is just the gangsta way anyways.. Here we go.

Top 10 Heisman Candidates
1.) Brady Quinn [QB, Notre Dame]
2.) Adrian Peterson [RB, Oklahoma]
3.) Dwayne Jarrett [WR, Southern California]
4.) Troy Smith [QB, Ohio State]
5.) Steve Slaton [RB, West Virginia]
6.) Calvin Johnson [WR, Georgia Tech]
7.) Michael Bush [RB, Louisville]
8.) Ted Ginn Jr. [WR, Ohio State]
9.) Marshawn Lynch [RB, California]
10.) Kenny Irons [RB, Auburn]

10 Games to Watch
1.) Ohio State at Texas [September 9]
This game will likely match the number 1 and number 2 teams in the country in a rematch of one of the greatest regular season games from last year. The winner of this game could make a run all the way to the National Championship game. I’ll take Ohio State, early on.

2.) West Virginia at Louisville [November 2]
The Mountaineers will likely enter this game 7-0, barring a major upset. They will probably win their final four games after this one, so a win here, and the Mountaineers go undefeated, on their way to a National Championship berth. I think West Virginia has too much team speed for Louisville to keep up. They take this one.

3.) Clemson at Florida State [September 16]
This game will decide the Atlantic Division of the ACC. Clemson brings in one of the top defenses in the country, and Florida State will be riled up for this game. Give me the Tigers.

4.) Oklahoma vs. Texas at Dallas [October 7]
The Red River Shootout. Oklahoma will enter this game angry about last year’s debacle against Texas. Revenge is on their mind, and they have a top notch defense. Texas will enter the game favored, but don’t be surprised to see Oklahoma steal this game, despite the lack of a proven quarterback.

5.) Notre Dame at Southern California [November 25]
Notre Dame could have a shot at a National Championship berth going into this game. However, with the whole season leading up to this game, Southern California will be clicking on all cylinders. I expect Notre Dame to go down here.

6.) Ohio State at Iowa [September 30]
This game should be the deciding game in the Big Ten conference race. The Big Ten is a three-horse race this season between Ohio State, Iowa and Michigan. Whoever beats each other emerges on top. Don’t be surprised to see Iowa shock the Big Ten and take down Ohio State at home.

7.) Florida at Auburn [October 14]
This game could decide the SEC race. However, I’m watching this game because it should be featuring two top 10 teams. Florida goes down to Auburn in a hostile environment.

8.) Louisiana State at Auburn [September 16]
This is the game that will decide the SEC West. It could go either way.

9.) Miami (FL) at Louisville [September 16]
September 16th will be a great day of football, and this is just another game to add to the slate. Michael Bush versus the Hurricane defense. Louisville upset Miami a few years ago. They could be at it again.

10.) Michigan at Ohio State [November 18]
The Big Game. Michigan versus Ohio State is always huge. If it means the winner of the Big Ten, this game will be massive.

Honorable Mention:

Florida State at Miami (FL) [September 4]
This game will set the tone for the season for both teams. Great rivalry, great teams, great game.

Oklahoma at Oregon [September 16]
September 16th just keeps getting better with another potentially great game. The Sooners and the Ducks at Autzen Stadium. The Zoo will be hopping for this game. I like Oregon.

Louisiana State at Florida [October 7]
Another great SEC game. The SEC could have the best top-four teams out of any conference in the nation. This will be a track meet.

Florida at Florida State [November 25]
The final game for each team, and it could pad a potential BCS resume for one of them. I expect a fight here.

Texas Tech at Texas Christian [September 16]
This is TCU’s biggest game of the season. If they end up in the top 12 of the BCS standings at the end of the year, they get into a BCS game. I see them running the table en route to the second non-BCS team breaking into a BCS game.

Top 10 Places to Play
1.) The Horseshoe [Ohio State]
2.) Tiger Stadium [Louisiana State]
3.) Kyle Field [Texas A&M]
4.) Ben Hill Griffin Stadium [Florida]
5.) Tiger Stadium [Auburn]
6.) Athens Stadium [Georgia]
7.) Kinnick Stadium [Iowa]
8.) Autzen Stadium [Oregon]
9.) Lane Stadium [Virginia Tech]
10.) Beaver Stadium [Penn State]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Top 10 Head Coaches
1.) Jim Tressel [Ohio State]
2.) Pete Carroll [Southern California]
3.) Bob Stoops [Oklahoma]
4.) Kirk Ferentz [Iowa]
5.) Rich Rodriguez [West Virginia]
6.) Frank Beamer [Virginia Tech]
7.) Tommy Tuberville [Auburn]
8.) Charlie Weis [Notre Dame]
9.) Joe Paterno [Penn State]
10.) Jeff Tedford [California]

I put a lot of work and research into this preview. I would appreciate any comments. Of course, these are my opinions, and people may disagree with some of them. As we all know, crazy things can happen in college football. One injury or suspension can change the course of an entire season. Enjoy![/quote]

I didn't read everything, and since I'm not really into college football, but very nice work on both of the threads. (Y)
