The New York City Thread: Mafia's 1st Two Days in NYC &

Tue Jun 20, 2006 4:28 am

Well as I said before in another thread, I'm leaving for NYC this Friday. I think Jae said he was going too because of the NBA Draft, but I don't know if he is still going. I already know some things my family plan on doing. My parents want to see the Color Purple play and thats going to be on Saturday. We staying in downtown Manhattan so I don't know whats close to around that area or what and we aren't renting a car because there won't be no need to with all that damn traffic. For the people that have either been to NY or live in NY, can someone give me some ideas on the best places to go. We are suppose to visit the Statue of Liberty as well. I'm more than likely looking for places to eat and shop because we basically know all the main attractions in NY.

THat's the hotel we staying in, the Sheraton on 790 7th Avenue at 51st Street. So if anybody familiar with all these street names, whats close to where we staying at?

You should go to the 9/11 memorial site where the World Trade Center's stood.

LOL @ Jae's hotel

I want to go there, my sister and my mom act like they scared to go, but my brother and my dad want to go too. We probably will end up going, I don't see whats the point of being scared, they act like something going to haunt them

I went there, it's surprisingly really shitty. It's just a chain-linked fence all around with a few panels showing a mock-up photo of the future Freedom Tower.

As for shopping, there's a lot of stuff on Times Square, Broadway and Madison Ave. Check out the NBA Store and Footlocker. I haven't been to other stores since I didn't go there to spend on stores  but if you want black market stuff, check out Canal Street. As for food, they're everywhere, where the most expensive stuff are closer to the main attractions and the cheaper stuff are just a little outside. Probably closer to where you'll be staying at, but more north (closer to Central Park).

Jae That hosue is dope

The best place to go is 42nd street and go in almost every store or building lol.
Theirs like a big as mall that i always go to and it has alot of stuff in there
and its fun to be in their for some reason. But thats all i can say cuz i live in Bx
and don't like going to Manhattan they look at you like "wtf?" *holds purse closer*
lol j/k

Check out golden crust caribbean restaurant in the city. They are all over in brooklyn and the bronx. Should be a nice departure from what you're accustomed to in terms of cuisine.

What the hell did you expect...a red carpet walk...a few corpses and a 10 dollar buffet?

Tue Jun 20, 2006 6:42 am

That really sucks about the memorial, Cyanide. However, I think just being there and remembering that day is a memorial, too. I heard they were going to do more and make a nice little plaza there once the Freedom Tower is built. It should be nice but it's sad that there isn't much there right now. I still think Mafia should go to it. I want to go to it myself.

Spend at least one night in Greenwich Village. There are some great restaurants there.

Overall, I'd just say to walk around wherever you can. Fuck sight-seeing or visiting places. Just walk around the city -- Times Square, 5th Avenue, Greenwich Village -- and you'll find stuff to do.

Tue Jun 20, 2006 3:11 pm

Thanks everybody, I already talked about going to Rucker because I really do wanna go its just that my entire family probably aint gonna wanna go except for my older brother  and we'll have to find our way around in a city where we know nothing about. So I'll see what we can do.

I expected a memorial, not a junkyard

Riot, you should check out St. Paul's Chapel instead. They have more memorabilia relating to 9/11. Last time I checked, though, I think the carpet was dark red, the corpses were all buried in the front yard of the cemetary, and there might be a 10 dollar buffet across the street.

Wed Jun 21, 2006 5:06 am
