NLSC Weekly Sig League Competition

I stole this idea from another forum but it seemed to kick alot of ass.

You'll notice in the topic it says "sig league"... so this isn't like cklitsie's Photoshop Friday thing, where anyone can enter and the public vote. Basically this is like a Yahoo Fantasy NBA league, where we form a league consisting of 8, 10, or 12 people and every week people go head to head against someone else. The other members of the league vote on every match-up except their own, and the general NLSC public vote also... but in a different way.

They get a poll with all 12 names and have to vote on who they thought did the best sig for the week... the person who gets the most votes gets 1 extra vote added to their tally... say for instance Colin vs nbalive744, the 10 other guys in the league vote Colin wins 10-0.. then the NLSC public vote that Colin made the best sig, so he would win 11-0.

I'm not going to start this just yet, I want to gage the interest level. Here are the requirements please read thoroughly

1: You must be willing to commit to the competition for a minimum 12 weeks... obviously there's probably going to be times where you can't make sigs or whatever, that would count as a forfeit but don't make a habit of it, and don't just drop out if you miss 1 week. If you don't vote, you will lose 2 votes yourself.

DO NOT COMMIT IF YOU'RE NOT 100% SURE YOU CANT SPIT OUT AT LEAST 1 SIG A WEEK FOR 9 OR 10 WEEKS (taking forfeits into account)

2: We're not only going to accept forum sig making God's... obviously it's preferable if you've got some skill, but if you're willing to commit then I'm willing to consider the possibility that you might actually improve over time. I'd hope some of the main guys sign up though, it's not that time consuming at all.

3: 12 is the ideal number at the moment, BUT if for some miracle we end up with 20 or so entrants I'm going to run 2 leagues... Division 1 and Division 2... or the NLSCDL or something... basically with the extra 8 guys fighting for 2 "promotion" spots, into division 1... with Division 1 having 2 relegation spaces at the bottome of the ladder.

Like I said this is all preliminary, but if you're interested and willing to commit let me know. I'll be entering the league, usually I'd stay out but this'll be too fun (if it works).

Well...On Friday I'm leaving for almost two weeks. But after that I'm good.

That's cool, I can put it off for a while until you get back. Will give me time to set it up properly anyway.

Sounds interesting...Don't know if I'm in the same calibre as a lot of people here. Not this week though. Still have a couple of days of final exams to go...

Lol you guys can't request to go into the D-League unless we get like 20 guys... so at the moment you're in the main league.

Null the comp won't go ahead until Colin gets back anyways so you've got time. I'll put you in as a prelim participant, if you change your mind or whatever just say.

Colin's the best graphics guy here, I'd rather have him in the comp and wait a week then start now and be stuck with Peachy vs Jugs as the highlight of the week.

Jae, what are the specifics? Like when we go against someone is it just any random sig we can make or does it have to be a selected picture like they do in other forums. I'd prefer whatever we want but with just a selected player. More freedom.

Hmm yeah I'm still deciding on that. I'll probably have a "theme", like make a sig for a certain player or a certain team... I won't be looking for pics for people to use since it limits them too much.

Exactly, just make it a specific player or team and even throw in extra themes once in a while like 'a player who's number is 23' and stuff like that.

Jae already said maybe make one of a certain team or player (and I figure a different team/player for every matchup) and I'll assume the sig has to be useable on this forum, ie. dimension restrictions, <50kb.

I'd say I'm in, but I don't know if I can commit to 12 weeks.

12 weeks DAMN! I must've not read or something. Anyway pull me out, I hate people who say they're in some competition and drop out so I'll prevent myself from doing that.

As long as one of the themes is to make Jackal as sig. Consisting of Island pictures, or Shaquille O'Neal, or LA Lakers, or just Jackal as a logo.

With the 12 weeks thing, you guys do realise it's like 1 sig per week? There's always gonna be occassional forfeits or whatever aswell... anyways, if you guys have any specific concerns let me know 'cause I'd like you both involved somehow, we might be able to work around it.

As Colin said the theme will rotate, it'll be basketball based but I'll try and throw some variety in or come up with some half decent sig ideas if I can.

The dimensions is an interesting one... I see the merits in having it forum-size, but then again there's probably better dimensions we could use in order to get better sigs out of people... we'll have a vote though eventually so not to worry.

Why 12 weeks though? I think thats scaring people off making them think they have to make more then they think. Did that make sense?
