Pills?

Sun Dec 04, 2005 6:28 pm

I don't want to sound like a druggie but has anyone ever popped sum pills and played basketball?

I seen basketball diaries long time ago and one day I grabbed 5 of my dads pain pills and took them before a game.

Its a wonder I didn't die of heart failure. It was beating faster then a lab rat.

My shot percentage was awful but I made up for it I never played so hard in my life. LOL

I took some headache tablets before a game because i had a bit of a stomach ache and a stitch because i had lunch like 30 minutes earlier and I was fine in the first half but in the second half, I went up for a lay-up and got hit in the stomach and i could feel my lunch coming up on me so i told the referee to make an injury sub and I ran over to the rubbish bin and threw up all my KFC :|

I'm still trying to find out the exact cause of it (i had some alcohol the previous night but i didn't get drunk) but my theory is that it was the food I had and the guy aggrovated my stomach. That was my best game of the tournament too...

Sun Dec 04, 2005 6:40 pm

yeah, Its hard to eat before playin let alone having any kind of pills in youre system.

I know if I had ate that night I would have been prayen to the toliet in the locker room.

Them pills were the strongest I have ever took. I took them cause I was real sore from practise the day before and I stayed up late playing street ball with some kids.

I suggest for anyone to stay away from any pills stronger then tylanol 3 when playing.

Sun Dec 04, 2005 7:05 pm

I used to pop pills before basketball but not the pain killing variety.

Sun Dec 04, 2005 7:09 pm

How about just staying away from pills all together while playing.

Idiot...

A few guys that went to my school last year (playing in the WHL hockey league now, drafted something like 1st and 7th) had guys on their teams that took some cold medication that widened the airways in yoru nose or something. The idea being that you could breath more air and get more oxygen. It's stupid...

Sun Dec 04, 2005 7:26 pm

Ok, calling someone an idiot for taking medication... mature

I myself have a hurniated disk between my L4 and L5. So now I have to take meds for it.

Sure it wasn't the reason before but I wasn't bout to whine to the coach and say I can't play starting center any tonight. I broke youre rules and played streetball all night.

Them being Oxycontin and the fact I didn't know they were basically synthetic heroine isn't my fault. I had no parents to even tell me not to at the time. Being 16 dad in jail for sum bs and moms workin two jobs till he got out.

'Popping pills' isn't something you do if your back is sore. 'Popping pills' is something you do at a rave with a bunch of other morons.

Taking them because of what you said in your last post isn't idiotic, but you didn't mention that before. You jsut said you took 5 pills (a stupid ammount no matter what's wrong with you) and went out. Clarify yourself if you don't want to be called an idiot.

Idiot...

too much oxygen = not good

i had a red bull once and i could jump higher for like 20 mins.

You really know nothing about medicine, pills, or anything related to the matter at hand.

Four reasons below that you should know about before you start calling me an "Idiot AND now a Moron". You really act like a 12 year old...

1st - Popping and Taking are the same. It means orally by the mouth. I did not say I shoot them up. Or snort them for that matter.

2nd - Popping pills may not be something you do if you're back is sore. It is what I do and my back isn't just sore. I said a herniated disk. Meaning perminate damage that usually makes it where I can't play any sports most of the time now days. I was more then sore the first time I took them I was unable to physically play the game because of hurting. Like I said I played all night.

3rd - You said taking 5 of them is a stupid ammount and I am an idiot once again. Well let me drop some info you're way The things were 5mg each. For a total of 25mg. I'm really getting a laugh out of you're post. The doctor gives me three 40mg pills a day. Plus 3 of the 15mg breakthrough gel caps. All of the same medicine.

4th - Only reason I felt like I did. It was my first time taking them. Plus I pushed myself really hard which will get you're heart going really fast anyway especially with my big built body structure.

I really think you should go read some books or something before you go around posting on peoples topics of discussion. Especially posting something totally wrong in every way.

Then calling them an "Idiot" AND a "Moron" because you're to goody goody to even think about getting into a pill bottle without premission.

By the way if you messed up a post that bad I suggest you don't get into any pills you don't sound real knowlegable about the issue and you may die. Probably taking viagra for heartburn.

Now comes someone posting about my bad grammar because they want last words.

Popping pills is the general term used for taking drugs NOT prescribed to you, or ones you shouldn't be using. If you use pain killers (and obviously have no need to) then your "popping pills".

You said yourself you were lucky you didn't have a heart attack. I think that would be blatantly obvious that taking 5 of these pills was a stupid thing to do. Irrelevant of the mg or what your doctor gives you, you took 5 of them and your heart was acting strange... that's not normal.

4th - Only reason I felt like I did. It was my first time taking them. Plus I pushed myself really hard which will get you're heart going really fast anyway especially with my big built body structure.

If it was your first time taking them, how is your doctor prescribing you 500 of them a day? If you mean he's been giving you the pills AFTER that incident, then it's even worse. You had no idea about what the doseage would do, you just randomly took 5 of them and hoped for the best. The pills would have had an impact on your heart rate, adding that to alot of physical exuberance makes it even more of a risk.

Anyways I'm sure you'll disagree with some of what I said, but I do actually know alot about pills. My mum is on alot of them for various reasons so I've had to learn what I can just incase she suffers side effects or whatever.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=popping

2. popping
(v.)To consume precription or non-prescription pills.
After he finished popping oxy, he couldn't feel his face.

Thats funny they mentioned Oxy the first well known "slang" dictionary I go to.

Anyways thats what it says and I never heard it being a non-perscribed only term of slang. Also the mention of "(and obviously have no need to)" is wrong because I needed anything to help me.

Ok, I didn't say it wasn't a dumb idea taking them. Thats what the whole post was about. The reason I wrote the 5 things was because someone with no knowledge of it spraying names when he needs to point them in the mirror. It was my first time takin them they were my dads. My back got hurt after I graduated. I now take 165mg a day ... thats 6 pills of a higher milligram. I was fine taking 5 of the 5mg I just shouldn't have busted my ass on the court.

I didn't say you didn't know anything about pills or you're mama. I don't really get why everyone is trippen on this. I simply wondered if anyone had taken pills when playing ball. Not how bad it was for me to do it. Nor how high you think my intelligence level is.

Back on Subject MAYBE???

Sun Dec 04, 2005 8:52 pm

i used to take aleve, xenodrene, or zantrex before football and basketball games

heh now i just take them before workouts :)

Sun Dec 04, 2005 8:58 pm

air gordon: They ever make you tired or sleepy?

Sun Dec 04, 2005 9:21 pm

nope. actually the opposite. do they make you sleepy?

Sun Dec 04, 2005 10:23 pm

Aleve does I haven't taken the others before.

I use to take hydrocodone they are pretty damn strong an they made me really sleepy and tired unless I got up and started getting my heart rate up real fast.

Same with the Oxycontin, but I really don't need to take them anymore I think I could get addicted if I took them as perscribed every day.

I read you ain't supose to take them every other day or even like twice a week. It said to take them every day or stay off them.

I guess its to much constant changing for your body. Not sure?

I take alot of muscle relaxers also. I get cramps all the time IT SUCKS!

Xenodrene.. I knew I saw that somewhere. Did it help you burn off the fat faster?

That doesn't prove anything. The example obviously has someone who didn't need to take it. You can take prescription drugs without them being described. Just look at what Matt said.

i spelled it wrong- its xenadrine

i thought it was ok. if you're going to try it out, make sure you buy ephedrine free kind ;)

my friend who runs a store similar to "GNC" recommended i try zantrex. i've stuck with zantrex since then- the energy boost feels "cleaner", meaning i don't feel numb or dizzy like i did when i was taking xenadrine

but who knows- maybe your body will react differently
