New Computer

Tue Sep 06, 2005 6:30 am

Okay, I'm getting a new computer. My cousin who's 28 and works at like the biggest computer company in chicago (he's worked like everywhere for like 8 years haha...) anyway he has a Tigerdirect store right by him so he's going there to get all parts and building it and sending it.

All of these parts are what we have so far. I want all of your opinions on what I should add or remove.

Thanks a lot guys.

Because he's shooting drugs. Isn't that obvious? You're so dumb.

Probably half the posts you made were flaming someone. You seriously need to get a life loser.

Tue Sep 06, 2005 8:05 am

Shit man, I'm a loser. That sucks, coming from a blowhard like you. Give me a minute, I'm going to go back and research all of my posts, and see if half of them were flames. Be back in a day.

Go for 19" TFT, 17 sucks.
Go for more RAM, 1024 aint gonna cut it in a few
Keyboard is unpleasant to write on imo. I go through 2-3 a year due to writing a fuckload, and that might be one of the worst.

Why 19? I don't have THAT much money...

Also my computer right now is only 256 mb ram..I'm sure 1gb of ram will cut it.

Mines Pentium 3
256 mb ram
996 mhz
25 gb HD

I used to have 22 gb of music too..I had to delete so much jsut to have any programs..

19" is nice and roomy, especially if you play any games. And if a 19" CRT monitor is cheaper than an LCD, then go for that (if you have the room). I have a 19" CRT and it's huge, but it's really nice. And I'd stay with the 1 GB of RAM for now if you're comfortable with that. Hab does have a point, but you can always upgrade your RAM later if problems arise. That should be a ways off though. 25 GB harddrive, wow that's small. Are you planning to carry that over to your new PC. Maybe it's because I'm tired, but I don't see a harddrive on your list of things to buy. 80 GB is pretty much the standard now.

I don't care about a flat panel monitor, a 19" full size monitor is still good (if you got the room) and you could save a lot of money. Does your motherboard support additional RAM slots? cuz you could have two 512 MB chips then for future upgrades, go buy another two 512 MB chips to go with 2 GB or RAM (4 RAM slots total).

I head that the 6600 128 mg wil give better performance than the 256

Tue Sep 06, 2005 8:48 am

That's an old list. On the new list there's a 120 gb hd.

The motherboard has a built in sound card with dolby digital 7.1.

If you listen to music alot, the new X-fi is the shit. Otherwise, check up on the quality of sound off the integrated one.

I like Audigy aswell, but X-fi... whoomp. Going to buy one as soon as the next paycheck comes in.
19" over 17 is always better, aspecially if you play games.

Tue Sep 06, 2005 9:06 am

Well, I don't play games much. I think I'll be fine with a 17".

I have music playing 24/7 basically ...but 7.1 dolby digital is supposed to be good. I have a shitty soudncard righ tnow so..

Plus my cable form my tstereo to my computer sucks and I'm getting a new one of that too.
