Nice work man, seriously.
That fatman with all the little details and the portraits, unbelievable!
And the second one from the High School bit, thats crazy!
That fatman one, what prog did you use?

all in photoshop.. fatman represents a culmination of all the skills I've learned over the years.. he's composed of 27 layers, 14 of which are adjustment layers.. all layers have masks..
it may sound needlessly complicated but it basically allows me to manipulate colors, tone, and detail independently of one another.. I did asian_male_1 a year before and spent a lot of time acheiving detail by blending adjacent areas and adding color, tone, and detail through a limited array of layers.. the result took much longer and was fuzzy
With fatman, I don't need to blend the color of the cheeks in with surrounding areas. I can acheive the same effect with an adjustment layer and an alpha mask without ever having to do the tedious shifting back and forth that formerly added 10's of hours of work to things like sts (stone to skin) which I did in high school

Wow... the portraits are really really impressive. I'm assuming you're into game design and things along that line?

what kind of stuff would you like to see?

don't be afraid to dream big, you can do better than what I've done here, just like I can.. if it's something that you want to get good at, then don't let anything stop you.. try to make moves out of your comfort zone (in terms of photoshop knowledge).. I've learned more in the past 3 months than I have in the past 4 years.. you have to aggressively pursue knowledge

great work extremely hard you make it look easy!!

well.. if that's something ck wants.. I wouldn't want to dissapoint ck
I don't want to get too high up on my own soap box, but I've got another little thought on the issue of talent. I think alot of people incorrectly define talent as being something of an inate predisposition to excellence. I would tend to define talent as a combination of motivation, technical skill, and experience.
We tend to hold up greats as being almost superhuman. Names like Spielberg, Kubrick, Tolkien, Michelangelo, and Monet probably intimidate people as much as they inspire them. Maybe they just asked more of themselves, knew what they wanted, and went about achieving their goals in a sensible fashion.

frank's a dude.. If I do it, I'll do it so that I can account for the effort I've already put in.. which has been on and off with assignments and other commitments.. but still I don't like investing time for nothing.. sorry for flaking on you

Great work, I really like the portraits. You do a really nice job.

As I said, no worries about it. You had told me not to pin my hopes on it too much & I didn't.
It would've been awesome if I did get it, but it's not the end of the world you decided not to do it.
We're still as good as we were before...well, normal. I doubt I'm good with anyone besides JAM. (Hehe, Jae, Andrew, Matthew = JAM.)

as long as we can still be friends
working on a new spre sig
need to do the jersey switch and a couple of other things.. maybe throw in a subtle animation..
Sun Aug 21, 2005 1:56 pm
I like the text effect, but you might want to add something to the background to make it less plain/simple.
Sun Aug 21, 2005 3:09 pm
kk.. starting to get there.. still need to do the switch.. c&c?
Sun Aug 21, 2005 3:44 pm
I don't like the animation. But I do like the thing that is animated, I would like it more if it was accentuated a bit. And I suggest making the stroke around the edge the same thickness as the stroke on the bball it's connected to. Text looks very good.
Sun Aug 21, 2005 4:09 pm
Spree's T-wolf uni does not match good with the color of that sig. And part of his head is cut off.
Sun Aug 21, 2005 4:16 pm
it's a work in progress.. haven't done the jersey switch yet..
personally I didn't have anything against the animation.. I think increasing the stroke was a good move.. but it probably would feel better if it was a pixel thinner.. don't think it necessarily has to match the bball outline.. guess I'll gauge peoples reactions to the change..
got assignment work to do so will either update again later today or tomorrow
