Q: Do you believe in AIDs???? (serious Q, sorry to hijack the thread)

Sat Feb 12, 2005 3:41 pm

I don't believe in either :|

Sat Feb 12, 2005 3:48 pm

I don't believe in God, nor do I believe in what religion is about but I'm not 100% with science either. They can disprove alot of things said in the bible or whatever, but it's never going to be 100% possible to completely prove or disprove certain things. That works both ways though. Just because it says it in the bible doesn't mean it actually happened, and just because some scientist has a theory doesn't mean it's correct.

It was supposed to be a ONE freakin WORD answer, but hell, since everybody does it...

I believe in the potencial human beings have in reason and emotion, but since it is in human nature to create and worship a greater power, I accept and respect the idea that others have of a God.
I strongly support my opinions in reason (say, modern science), but never leaving feelings totally aside.
Do I believe in God? No.
Do I believe in miracles? No.
Do I believe in humanity? Yes. :)

Humanity is the last thing i'd believe in

Why don't you believe in evolution?

doesn't the evolution theory sound like a bunch of toss? give me a fat blunt and i can make some theories up to and you can call me a scientist

Sat Feb 12, 2005 4:06 pm

One word answers make for boring threads

And yeah I gotta agree, the evolution theory does sound like a load of shit... but so does 80% of what appears in the bible.

Sat Feb 12, 2005 4:13 pm

but the Bible has miracles!!!! as a matter of interest, have you read the ENTIRE Bible Jae?

Sat Feb 12, 2005 4:18 pm

well I dont believe anyone can help ya but I do believe that their was a Lord Buddha & Jesus Christ.......yes they might have achieved sheer mental purity.....but the Buddha's teaching tell us that no one can help u and that your actions are for you to deal with and u can go saying sorry to make up for it.....Kamma is the word but the westerners call it Karma....

anyhow Buddhism is a philosophy and not a religion and its actually more based on Science......so yeah I guess Ill have to say Science weirdly....

no one cares I know that.....but hey I have the right to speech :)

Sat Feb 12, 2005 4:19 pm

When I was 14 I did. Don't start with this "Old Testament/New Testament" stuff either... you can't just go and change things because the "old" version sounds ridiculous. On another note, it was like a childrens book. I truely believe it was written just as a guide to help people act in a certain way, and along the line some wacko got ahold of it and decided it was gospel truth and every word was straight from God himself.

Sat Feb 12, 2005 4:27 pm

well, i haven't read either in it's entirity although i 'studied' them.

Kamma is the word but the westerners call it Karma....

Karma= toss, where the Karma for the 9/11 pilots, they went out in a blaze just as they wanted too.

Living of one piece of rice and one drop of water per day though, can't say he didn't try...

Najira wrote:Kamma is the word but the westerners call it Karma....
Actually the only ones that say Kamma is people that speak Pali. Karma is the word that came first from Sanskrit I was told by my teacher.

Najira wrote:anyhow Buddhism is a philosophy and not a religion and its actually more based on Science......
Buddhism is a religion, and saying it is based on science is not quite right. Buddhism counts as one of the natural religions and because of its natural nature it focuses a lot on the human nature; it also says that the source of problems isn't a part of the physical world. Thus having science or technology as a solution of mankind's problems is a crock of shit () according to Buddhism. And if you say yes it is, then why would they advocate something that would develop the materealistic part of life rather than the mental side...

Sat Feb 12, 2005 10:13 pm

u need to read the real books on Buddhism.......most books are translated by each |Monks preferences.....Monks also tend to create a bit of their own style into writing books abt Buddhism......well anyway lets not flame each other over the net because our beliefs.....ppl can believe what they want....its a free world....we live and we die.....:)

trust me Im part of a very religous family.....and Im practically from the land of Buddhism
