Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Postby AMenace on Thu Oct 06, 2011 11:24 am

Anybody getting this? I personally think that it's not going to be as good as previous games in the Call of Duty series, but the future of FPS looks in the direction that Battlefield 3 is heading. I only play Call of Duty to team kill on the hardcore game modes, as that gets a lot of angry reactions from others, but I really don't know whether this is worth getting. Thoughts?

um, well first of all, Modern Warfare 1 & 2 were made by the same people at Infinity Ward. COD World at War & Black Ops were done by treyarch. there is a distinct quality discrepancy between the two products. Treyarch's games are a bit more buggy imo and the only thing it had going for it was the split screen multiplayer, but they're putting that into MW3 and bringing back the best of 1 & 2 so MW3 will pretty much blow all the previous games out of the water

I'm following MW3, but I have yet to play it so I'm not going to judge it until I do. I enjoyed MW2 more then MW though, we'll see.

Exactly my thoughts. Also IW tends to have more innovative products. Treyarch then takes their game and patches it more. I just wish IW would have patched some things in MW2 like one man army and the noob tubes. Lets hope they support their product more this year.

well i'm 90% sure they got rid of one man army for MW3. seems like they took the best perks & guns from MW1 & 2 and put it in 3

They had a bit of an issue of their heads getting fired and most of the company bolting with them. Plus a fancy lawsuit.

yeah i have the feeling that MW3 was technically made by IW but with new people they hired, so it's not the same IW team that worked on the first 2. plus they commissioned Raven & Sledgehammer to work on it too

Indeed, I hope they have some sort of a "beta" so players can play it who didn't go to the XP Event. It would be nice to get some sort of idea for the game.

I just hope there isn't too severe of a punishment for teamkilling, I didn't mind the time delays in modern warfare 2, but 3 teamkills and you get kicked, that's unfair. I loved seeing the reactions of 'teammates' when I used the rpg to teamkill 4 teammates at once during the extra time in Hardcore Sabotage in MW2 at the spawn, such good reactions...

Black ops I had a 1.33 K/D, MW2 I had a 0.09 K/D because my teammates let me down so I had to exploit the friendly fire abilities... xD

I don't care about spec ops, I don't care about all the new features, just make teamkilling like COD 4.

Anybody seen any good pre-order deals?

I know a game of this magnitude likely won't have great deals, but I remember when MW2 came out WAlmart offered a $20 gift card. Other big releases like BF3 and ACR had huge discounts on Amazon. Revelations was half off on the PC the other day.

i heard from a friend a couple weeks ago, the best buy at my house offered free map packs (when they get released) to those who preordered. im gonna wind up cancelling my preorder because my friend works at Blizzard and gets it at an employee discount. $15 is quite a deal.

That's a pretty good deal from BB. My local one isn't doing that, they're giving away a free phone with a 2 year plan and MW3 purchase; which really isn't a deal at all.

I hope someone offers something decent because I'll be paying 60 bucks at midnight either way.

Like 150-200 people waiting outside GameStop for this here, with more coming in constantly with tents and chairs. I initially thought Kroger had become suddenly popular instead of the barren and depressing wasteland it normally is.

Everything is fun, except the spawns and hit detection... even in great connections it seems like my shots lack the ability to register correctly.

I would have to agree the spawns are pretty bad, but thats mostly due to the decreased size of the map. Still loving this game, a lot more fun than BO.

I don't hear many kids on the PC version, so overall it really doesn't affect me. It is annoying when it happens when I'm at a friends house and you hear them start talking...

I'm loving the Juggernaut Point Streak Reward, it's awesome to use in the middle of a heated battle.
