BioShock 1 / 2

Surprisingly, didn't see a thread of this. I'm sure more than one of you played any of the 2 games of the series. Bought Bioshock 2 yesterday. :cheeky:

Bioshock 1 kicked ass. Definitely my favorite game of this generation. The graphics were beautiful, the story was fantastic and it was really addicting. That twist two-thirds into the game was mindblowing.

Bioshock 2 was a big disappointment. Better gameplay and an online component were nice, but it was shorter than the first, and the story wasn't all that great. Still very addicting, but not even close to matching the masterpiece that the first one was.

Anyone with XBL want to play some Bioshock 2 online?

I was never as blown away by Bioshock 1 as what appears to be the majority. Yes the art direction was fantastic, the story was compelling, and some of the visuals were incredible (shaders, water effects), but on PC, it was still painful to see that it remained a console port through and through. Most of the textures were ridiculously bland and low-res, there were some inexcusable bugs when it was first released (mainly the messed up FOV and the sound issues), and the gameplay got quickly repetitive.
I'll give Bioshock 2 a shot when it gets cheaper but from I've already read about it, it doesn't look like those previous drawbacks were really addressed.

Yeah i played about half of 1 as a Mac port. I liked it: the story was awesome and the gameplay was alright but i too found it quickly became systematic. "if it moves, zap it with lightning, then shoot it. If thats not possible take out a big gun and pwn it"
