I was never as blown away by Bioshock 1 as what appears to be the majority. Yes the art direction was fantastic, the story was compelling, and some of the visuals were incredible (shaders, water effects), but on PC, it was still painful to see that it remained a console port through and through. Most of the textures were ridiculously bland and low-res, there were some inexcusable bugs when it was first released (mainly the messed up FOV and the sound issues), and the gameplay got quickly repetitive.
I'll give Bioshock 2 a shot when it gets cheaper but from I've already read about it, it doesn't look like those previous drawbacks were really addressed.
