wtf, Australia?

Postby cyanide on Fri Jan 29, 2010 12:06 pm

Ok, I think Australia's an awesome country as Canada's hotter cousin, but what is up with the censorship that's been going on lately? Violent video games, porn, and most recently, Australia bans small boobs and female ejaculation? Small boobs promote pedophilia, wtf? I feel bad for those A-cup women who hang their head in shame in front of a large breasted ten year old.

Even the US is starting to look somewhat appealing (not really).

It's about time someone did it. Small boobs are an aberration and need to be stamped out.

I understand that people find certain things offensive and that's their right, but the amount of censorship being attempted under the Krudd regime makes me sincerely regret voting for Churchy McHolierthanthou. I don't much care for the Coalition either though so I guess I'll be submitting a blank ballot later this year...either that or staging a coup and naming myself Grant Exalted Pharoah/Forum Administrator of Australia.

You think that's bad, wait until Abbot gets power. No sex before marriage, no abortions, prayer/bible sessions in schools etc. The guy is a fruitloop but Rudd has been so annoying that he'll probably get Abbot elected just to get rid of him.

If Abbott gets in, I think I'll move to Canada. Still, I think he'll shoot himself in the foot before the election and Rudd will get in for another term.

Sadly Australia is the most over-regulated country in the Western World & it continues to get worse (N)

Plus refugees get twice as much in benefits as pensioners and the middle class gets arse raped.

Vent over.

I'm pretty sure this is basically a government requirement for someone to sit around and evaluate breasts sizes in porn.

I can already see the ad on craigslist for that position: in charge of "enforcing compliance with minimal bust requirements".

Hopefully they run into too many problems to succeed in that self-righteous quest, not the least of which will be slower access when one of Krudd's campaign promises was to improve the speed and availability of broadband in Australia. I doubt he'll want to go back on that one in an election year.

I was in Australia last week and I have to tell you something. First, at the airport somebody stole my bag, it was a young man, maybe some kid, dunno. I was walkin with my dog to the gate and suddenly this kid took my package, he was runnin and smilin to me, I was very angry. My friends have told me that Australia is not nice country, there are a lof of bad people, I didn't believe them, now I know why they have thought that. After this accident my dog was runnin for my bag, this kid fell down and I got my package back. I took his ear in my hand and went to the Policeman, he asked him - why did you do that? silent... So he took him to the police station. I don't know what happened next with this boy, nevermind. Two days later, I rent a car and now I think, it was a big mistake, I didn't know that people in this country don't know how to drive, holy sh1t, many dangerous moments I experienced and when I was drivin to my hotel there was a traffic jam, about ten mins later somebody didn't press his break and he hit in my car (of course it was not mine). Then I got many, many problems with this situation. Now, when I am in my home I decided that I wouldn't go abroad this year. Too much stress...

Maybe your friends should go back to whatever third World hole they crawled out of. Though I'm sure they're enjoying our wages, government benefits and lifestyle too much for that.

I'm sure a lot of people could produce horror stories about visiting foreign countries that do not reflect the country as a whole. Cynical as it may be, there are bad people everywhere in this world of ours and problems such as theft, snarled traffic and the like are issues that are not exclusive to just one society.

As to your specific examples, the situation with your bag is unfortunate and hopefully the kid got punished, but that's something that could happen pretty much anywhere in the world (As for the kid remaining silent, what point are you trying to make there? A bratty kid who gets caught doing something bad is probably going to be stubborn and refuse to talk until they realise how much trouble they're in). Friends of mine had one of their bags stolen in China, some folks in Paris tried to con my cousin out of money while he was taking in the sights, but that doesn't speak of the entire country/city. Like I said, there are bad people everywhere and sometimes you're just unlucky enough to run into them.

As far as your experiences on the road are concerned, there certainly are bad drivers but again, I'm sure they're everywhere in the world too. If I may play devil's advocate for a moment, you were in a foreign country with different road rules, I believe not the least of which is driving on the opposite side of the road. That could certainly have contributed to your experiences. Having the other person run up the back of you sucks but it was just the one person (because yes, there is a percentage of bad drivers everywhere) and that kind of thing does happen in traffic jams. Since you're flying in from abroad I'm guessing you were in Sydney or another major city, in which case I'm not surprised you ran into snarled traffic.

In any case, it's a shame your visit was tainted by misfortune but I hardly think it's fair to condemn a whole nation because of a few bad experiences. I'm sure there are people that have had bad experiences visiting Poland, yet you would bristle to hear a word against it because you know it doesn't reflect what the country is really like.

Please, stop kiddin me.
Tell me now, what do you have to the Third World Countries? They are worse because don't have enough food and water? Please tell me that you do not think that. Racism? You live in Australia and you don't care about poor people in Africa, congrats. You have to be very proud of this.

Andrew, I know that you are tryin to explain my bad luck, but let's think... I was in many countries in Europe, America, including Africa. Only in USA I have had some problems. Maybe I didn't have a luck but I can not believe that. In airplane I thought that this visit is gonna be bad, premonition?
And of course - this situations don't reflect what the country is really like, but I can think what I think and nobody gonna change it. I know that I wouldn't visit Australia for my free will.

Sorry, but in our roads there are not aggressive drivers, maybe a few. In Australia I saw last week that there are lots of this kind of drivers and they are unskilled. Sad but true.

So...your experiences don't reflect what the country is like, except that you still believe that they do and nothing will change your mind because you know more about a country after visiting their for one week than the people who actually live there and there's no way that any of it was bad luck (so I guess there were tons of accidents on the road and everyone's bag was stolen)? Oh well, fair enough I guess; you're entitled to your opinion and clearly you didn't have the best of times here. However, I do wonder how you'd react if the shoe was on the other foot and someone was casting aspersions on Poland having spent a week there and had some bad experiences. I expect you'd beg to differ, as any of us would in those circumstances.

Look. I have been in your country for a week. I saw many things there and I can compare it with Poland, can't I? My bag was stollen, ok, I can understand this could happen to me in any other countries. This what I saw in your roads is mine so I think that our drivers have better skill of driving because I have compared it. I have my own opinion, you wouldn't change it.

"cast aspersions on", hoho, I haven't known this idiom yet, thanks.
If someone was in Poland and experienced something like that I woundn't argue with him, why should I do it? I would understand him, he was here, he experienced something, he can think whatever he want to, these are just his feeling. I don't care about it.
