Bush ducks shoes in Baghdad

President George W. Bush ducked a pair of shoes hurled at his head — one shoe after the other — in the middle of a news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

Both shoes narrowly missed their target and thumped loudly against the wall behind the leaders.
...
The shoe attack came as Bush and al-Maliki were about to shake hands. The assailant — later identified as television correspondent Muntadar al-Zeidi — leapt from his chair and hurled his footwear at the president, who was about 20 feet away.

"This is a farewell kiss, you dog," he yelled in Arabic. "This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq."

You have to admit, Bush dodged that shit like a ninja.

Hells yeah he did...because he's fucking epic.

And we're all going to miss the clarity he brought to our world.

That story is wrong though, they had already shook hands.

Required snark: Imagine if the guy threw his shoes at Saddam.

This guy was clearly planted by Bush. All Bush wanted was some attention from the media since they have been neglecting him since the late stages of the electoral race. This was just an opportunity for George to get back on TV and do his little cute monkey faces. "S0 wut if he frew a sh00 @ m3? XD"

Both Bush and al-Maliki were surprisingly stoic throughout the incident. I think I'd find myself more rattled by it, at least while the shoes were coming at me.

I read that it is considered a major insult in some middle eastern countries for someone to hit you with their shoe.

I was personally waiting for Bush to go toe to toe with the reporter. Love the smile after the first thrown shoe, too.

I heard that the guy is still being detained...might be on his way to Guantanamo or something...
He's apparently some sort of idol in most Middle-East countries now, they were even showing his young son who's also willing and ready to throw shoes at Bush... :)

LOL the one from Austin Powers. Impressive ducking skills, and I was surprised to see both of them seeming to be more amused than shocked or anything.

Harris's campaign can't hold a candle to Bosh's.

Vince Carter's performance carried Harris in that spoof.

I love how Yi looks completely bedazzled and confused in the video. He doesn't even need to talk because he is so awesome and knows he'll have the support (if you read RealGM, you'll probably know about some posters' campaign to vote Yi in over Garnett  ).

I still don't get those campaigns. I guess they're to prove the downside of fan voting but why do something undesirable just to prove it can be done?
