Usergroups

Postby Andrew on Thu Sep 04, 2008 10:22 pm

Up until now we haven't made use of the usergroups feature of the Forum and we've rarely been asked about it but having said that, we're interested to know if anyone would be interested in having some different groups here in the Forum (such as fan groups and the like). It may be that we have no real use for them but we're interested to know if anyone is a fan of the idea since other boards do make use of them and whether you'd like to see it here.

I think it's worth a try. If in the end there's no real use for them we can still move on without usergroups.

I want in on the other usergroup. :cheeky:

But since that won't be happening...

I guess it would be fun to try it out. I'm up for a trial run. (Y)

I think it'd be good. I know who the Raptor fans are, but it might be a way to attract more members and maybe keep them around longer.

That's the only reason I didn't show too much enthusiasm, half the "Laker" fans can't spell let alone read. :(

Indeed, there's definitely no risk in giving it a shot. I appreciate the feedback so far. (Y)

So, apart from groups dedicated to each of the NBA teams and I guess NBA Live and NBA 2K, what kind of groups would you be interested in?

What about groups devoted to fans from the different countries around the world? It might help to promote the noble art of racism!

We could certainly do countries/regions depending on interest. One thing to keep in mind is that we'd need a group leader to oversee applications to join each group and those members would need to be fairly active so they could handle those requests. To that end, a usergroup for each team might be excessive.

Hmm... My dynasty affiliation might affect my goon squad member badge. I'd be a Blazers fan, but their fans tend to be annoying. Hmm... Decisions decisions.

Well as I said, if we're going to do individual teams we'll need to have active members to preside over those groups and handle requests to join them, so it might be a bit ambitious to have groups for each for the 30 teams. Any suggestions for groups, feel free to throw them out. Anyone interested in handling group leader duties, by all means speak up as well.
