Are you sure? A doctor told you?

I recommend that you get a second opinion from another doctor.

I read the page, and although I don't have the syndrome, it sounds very interesting. If you don't mind me asking, how were you diagnosed?

I worked with someone that has asperger's for quite a while. he had a habit of saying "Ok Alright" A LOT. he also was very organized and precise about things, keeping things organized. He seemed to have problems with certain social situations, like getting into people's "personal space" (too close to people), the inability to read body language, and the ability to detect sarcasm. also, once he set his mind on something, there's no way of deterring him from his goal. so if he was doing something incorrectly at work, and someone told him to do it differently, he would still do things his way.

funny thing is, he left to go into the army i think and some of my friends were at work when he came back months later. people said he looked way different. his goofy long red hair cut was gone, his posture was better and the biggest thing was that he didn't say "ok alright" anymore.

My little brother has Asperger's syndrome. So I've known someone with it for over 17 years now. I won't say I'm an expert... but yeah. I know about it.

And you don't really need a second opinion - it's not like a disease, nor is it "curable". It's really just a set of behaviours that when grouped together in common patterns are defined by a certain name. I would say after a bit of observance, it's fairly easy to diagnose. It's actually a really neat thing, once you get used to the differences in sociality. For example, my brother can't seem to get embarrassed as he doesn't really care what anyone thinks. He also has fantastic marks in school.

That's because you're not his superiors.

"Sir, ok alright, sir!"

That wasn't about someone with Asperger's.... the kid in that had Autism. Although Asperger's is a form of Autism, it's not one and the same.

Then what's the point of your post if you don't know someone with it in a thread about Aspergers?

i was diagnosed by my mom. then i looked at the requirements for said diagnosis and i agreed with them. i now have diagnosed by my phsychiatrist.

fyi those of you who know folks with aspergers. something interesting is that wheat gluten may cause to get worse. i was off wheat for most of the weak and was feeling quite a bit better. ate some wheat last night and i can tell i am different today.
