Hey, I ran a Barcelona story for a short while on Football Manager 07. Ive been playing FM 08 for sometime now, and after reading Thierryhenry50's Arsenal story on FIFA Manager 08 I feel inspired to start a FM story.
Im not sure which team to use, I almost always play as Arsenal as im a diehard supporter, and to be honest they are probably the best and most enjoyable team on the latest patch.
So im going to cut it down to a list of teams that im thinking about:
Olympique Lyon
Small transfer budget (about 9m) however some great young talent in Benzema and Ben Arfa. Decent depth as well to win the league, and competition in Europe would be a good challenge.
Atletico Madrid
Home to everyone's favourite Sergio 'El Kun' Aguero. Plus a decent squad but a lot of work to do before can really think about competeing for an ECL spot.
Real Madrid
I wanted to put one of the big two from Spain in, see if I can carry them to their expectations (I don't doubt that I could). Havent played with Madrid since FM 06. Also they only get 10m so some cleaning may have to be done.
Valencia
Only 900k in starting transfer budget! But its not hard to generate more cash with Valencia. Great attack with Villa, Zigic, Silva and Joaquin. Would have to do some work on the defence however.
AC Milan (Inter)
Initially it appears this would be a walk in the park, but with an ageing team, while still having high board expectations, this could be quite challenging. Deffinately a lot of player movement to be done. Inter are in a similar, but not as drastic situation, so I may end up switching Milan out for Inter.
Arsenal
It seems I just can't get bored playing with this side, Adebayor is such a beast up-front, RVP is an amazing creative force, and Cesc cannot be stopped. The great thing about playing with this squad is there is hardly any moves that need to be made, just a new goalie, and perhaps bolstering the DC postition. Oh and I forgot to mention the 45m in starting transfer budget. At this stage I am leaning towards an Arsenal save.
